Possibly getting an 04 6MT today!

And I'm kinda scared lol. I'm going in about 2hrs to apply for the loan through the dealership (Lia Infiniti of Latham, NY). I've been sifting through some threads on here, and I know I'm gonna get flamed for asking this now and not sooner and for not searching much, but what are the common problems on these cars?
The car is Black/black 6MT w/ aero package and the navigation system. It has 48k on it, which isn't really a big deal to me, but after reading some of the threads on here, it's starting to. During the test drive, I didn't notice any grinding or anything while shifting, clutch felt good as well. I've read that the syncros on these trannies go pretty randomly. Is this all covered under warranty? The current warranty will be up in 2007 (3 months) so I'm opting to get a new 3yr/36k warranty.
What about the maintenance intervals? AFAIK, it has a timing chain on it (like most Nissan's), so does it still need to be replaced at 60k? It's basic maintenance, so I doubt the dealer will cover the 60k once I get there. I only plan on keeping the car for a couple years prolly, but I really want to enjoy it in that timeframe. I come from Honda's and DSM's mostly, so the V6 torque curve amazes me a bit, compared to laggy turbo Honda's.
I know this is a bit of short notice, but if anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks everyone. -Chris

I drive an 04 6MT with prem pack etc. and it will turn 58000 miles today, I love it still and have had no problems that weren't quickly resolved at the dealer. This has been the best car as far as dependability and fun that I ever had and I've been driving and have been through many since 1978.

I wouldn't worry about maintenace too much, heck the spark plugs alone are not recommended to change until 120,000 (or close; I don't have my manual at hand); just do your fluid changes etc. on time and use good synthetic products.

Make sure the car has not been wrecked or flooded and also, check the clutch and transmission to be sure someone has not overly abused them and you will be happy with this car.

Goodluck Man! These Cars Are Great! I bought my car used at 36xxx miles and now im at about 52xxx miles... the biggest and pretty much only problem ive had with this car was that i blew some kind of fuse under the hood which didnt allow my car to start lol i thought it was my fuel pump but it ended up just being a fuse and $110 fix haha

I planned on using Mobil 1 engine oil and filter. What do you recommend for everything else? Thank god I work at an autoparts store and get stuff cheap lol.

Mobile1 is a good choice; I use either Nissan or Purolator filters and the shop I goto uses RoyalPurpleSynthetic lubricants for the transmission and differential.

Your gonna love the car, it's a real treat to drive a well balanced machine like this... I came from a background of old muscle cars, older Nissans (240, 280 300Z etc.), Supra's and had a 2001 C5-R Corvette before my G that was real fast, but driving my G everyday is much more fun and the quality, fit and feel in general makes me wonder how I ever drove the Vette so long. I sometimes miss the neckbreaking torque of the Vette but I have a Ninja to satisfy that urge when needed. The G is not what I consider fast, but it is pretty damn quick and will not get rid of it unless the next generation G is all we think it may be... (and then I may still keep it, it will be a classic, I'm sure of this!)

I hope this helps;
Welcome to the group

I've had my 05 for almost two weeks now. I haven't stopped grinning yet.
I drove today with the VDC off for the first time and hit a turn pretty hard trying to push it a little: A 90 degree fishtail, another 90 to sort of pull it back and soiled pants were the result, but damn that was fun. ( : The car is a blast bro. You'll love it.

I couldn't be more excited. I haven't beat on it at all really, just some 6th gear pulls to show my Honda friends what torque is lol.
I'll take more pics tomorrow after I get out of work. As soon as I picked it up today, I had to work from 1pm until close, so I didn't get much time. I took some pics at the dealership, but they're not any good.

I feel very welcomed here, I enjoy it. I like how it looks stock. The only thing I don't like is a small chip on the sideview mirror housing, and the driver's side front wheel is curbed a bit thanks to previous owner. I doubt it can be repaired, so I may be looking to buy another front wheel for it, or a whole set eventually.
