Passenger Air Bag 06 coupe

Hey,
while the car is in motion, and there is no passenger the "Passenger air bag off" (next to the clock);
1. is light up so you can read it
2. lights up when the car is started, and then turns off after few secs

dealer ran a check on the SRS today no problems found, but the loaner i got had the sign light up all the time while i was driving and there was no one w/ me. My car on the other hand, the sign lights up only when its started and then turns off.

It should not light up when the car is driving if there is nothing in that seat. There is a weight/pressure sensor that will actiate the dashlight and the airbag. I think if ir doesnt weigh 80lbs and it's in your passenger seat the light will appear, and that's the only time it should appear when the car is being driven.

i think it's actually a safety and money saving feature. if there's no one in the seat, why would you want an airbag going off?

Mine turns off after a little while when no one is sitting in the seat, but once in awhile when I have my bag for work, or some other heavier stuff, on the front seat it will come on and go off depending on what's going on.

It may have like a weight range that it looks for where if say a kid is sitting in the front seat and doesn't weigh "x" amount it wont deploy the airbag, but give the warning that the airbag is off by sensing that some weight is on the seat but not enough.

I believe the weight is 60-80lbs... if there's nothing in the seat it won't light up, but if anything under 80lbs (such as laptop or backpack) it lets you know that the airbag won't deploy.
