first time buyer, have questions

hey guys. i want a g35 coupe. im 18 right now. make about 1,000 monthly and i dont know much about buying cars. would the dealers deal with me? i dont want my parents to be paying for it either and i do live at my parents house so i dont pay for anything.

i have a 97' acura cl 3.0 premium that i can trade in or sell and im saving up some extra money for a larger down. what im asking is will the dealers deal with a 18 yr old that makes 1000 monthly? im hoping to put at least 10 or 15k down. ill probably wait for at least six months. whenever i feel i cant ahndle not having a g35. thanks!

Mine was 40 out of the door. I put 13 down and my payments are a little over 500 a month. Add insurance, gas, mods, etc and you won't have much left over.

There will be some dealers that wont deal with you. Go to a couple of them. Even if your parents wont be paying for the car it will help if they will go there with you. Also having someone that has bought cars before is a major plus as they will know how to deal with the salesmen. A large down will help you a lot. Since your insurance will be outrageously high, unless if you are on your parents policy that is. And yes the gas will be quite a lot too. I am sure you will want to punch it once in a while or very often like me, so prepare to pay a lot for gas.

Re: first time buyer, have questions

Mine was 38 out the door, then i put 13,000 down and my payments were $484....

Then i traded in my 03' about a 2 months ago for an 04'. My 2003 depreciated like 8 grand in one month. So now my payments on my 2004 are like... $625.

If i knew i was gonna trade in my 5AT for a newer 6MT, i would have not boughten the first 2003, and just got an M3...and probably been perfectly happy...but the G is still cool..

And for the dealer listening to you...i think you gotta have a job for longer then 1 year, and make 3 times your payment will be. Another issue is that i am 20, and they didnt even pay attention to me when i bought my G. Until i whooped out some cash. hehe peace!

You should see if you can get pre approved first. Try something peoplefirst.com to see if you can get approved. If you are already approved you won't give a crap what the dealer's attitude is.

You could have a downpayment of 39k a month and then pay zero dollars on 2000000000% financing and not care. Jk. I don't kno many ppl who don't finance.
