Hey guys i recently picked up a used '03 g35 sedan (auto), and i see the vdc button, but does that turn off both vdc and traction...or is it because my model may not have the traction????(i know the question kinda sounds lame) thanks in advance

I've got an 04 coupe AT and after reading this it occurred to me that I've never tried turning my VDC off. And I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my car, because I can spool up the tires no problem and I've never seen the VDC light come on. I'll check it again tomorrow but seems like maybe something isn't right. I'm assuming that if the VDC was turned off ( disabled ), the VDC indicator should be lit.
The VDC light won't come on when you spin the tires, the SLIP light will.
When you turn your key to on (and don't start the engine), do you see the SLIP and VDC light come on?

I never noticed the VDC or SLIP lights on the dash display before, but after checking, they do come on when you first turn the key on. With the VDC switched off, how differently does the car handle? I mean, is it more likely to fish tail when all hell breaks loose or is it even noticeable depending on your driving skills?
It is more likely to fishtail with it off, but these cars are relatively easy to control since we don't have an absurd abundance of power and the power delivery is relatively smooth and linear to begin with while the car is also relatively balanced front to rear. If you go violently stabbing at the throttle while in corners, especially on wet roads.... then yes, it will probably get ugly in a hurry. One thing about our traction control system is that it can be more sensitive or less sensitive based on what size tires you have on the car. It uses a ratio of front to rear wheel rotation speeds to determine wheelspin, so slight alterations in those ratios will lead to varying degrees of performance by the system. I used to find my OEM Michilin PilotSports caused the system to be hypersensitive about the slightest wheelspin, but both sets of tires that I've put on since then don't seem to trigger the system as easily.
