It's standard tint on the outside, but solid black vinyl along the top on the inside. You have to read what he wrote . . .

"Next, see how they plan to attack those annoying dots at the top of your rear windsheild. My installer first attempted to cover them, and it appeared to work great. However, a day later, the tint began to peel and "fall off" of the dots. As a solution, my installer was able to mount a black vinyl banner ON THE INSIDE to cover the dots. While the black vinyl banner is not rare, mounting it on the inside of the glass is! Most installers will put the vinyl banner on the outside of the window. Mounting it on the inside, gave a flawless look. The installer ran the seam (tint/banner seam) along the top wire of the rear defroster. At first, this looked a little extreme, but it ends up looking much better from the outside."

Some tinters do that vinyl on the outside over the dots first, then the tint film over the vinyl. Our G's have a lot of matrix dots there, more so than other vehicles.

[edit]....oops...I meant on the inside...dohh...that's where the tint goes and where the dots are

Our G was done that way. Black vinyl on top and tint on the rest.

Who ever Gunn Infiniti got to install my tint did a great job. I could find only 2 VERY small bubbles at the corner of the right back passengers glass. The rear window is perfect. Didn't need to cover anything with black.

I had a guy in Fremont do my Huper Optiks without that vinyl strip. Turned out great with no lifting on the dots.

Mine was done great as well. The key is that once or twice a day, you SHOULD press the tint down over the matrix dots to make sure the tint can stick in between...Rick

Umm, that vinyl strip on the silver G35 looks horrible. It takes up almost 1/4 of the rear window. Sanding down the dot matrix and pressing it down daily as it dries is normally yields the best results.
