Should I believe the dealer?

Well, I'm going to buy a G35 coupe... Unfortunately, none of the dealerships in my area have one I want (fully loaded DG). Rosenthal Infinity has said they have one coming late November or early December. The problem is they will not get any more specific than that. I've read in other posts that if you order a car you should be able to get an order number from them. Should the same be true in this case? Anything else I should look out for?

Thanks,
Dave

Re: Should I believe the dealer?

I'm not quite sure what your question is, but you do get an order number, but it will only be a few weeks before you take delivery of the vehicle. You don't receive a U # on the day you place the order. Does that answer your question?

It sounds like you'll have to place an order to get the exact vehicle you want or you can check the Corporate Infiniti website, configure the vehicle you want and it will do an inventory search up to 150 miles from the zip code you use.

Re: Should I believe the dealer?

Thanks for the info. The dealer claims to have one coming in pretty much exacly like I want. The problem is that I'm not sure I believe them. Tomorrow I'll give them a call and ask for the vin number.

Re: Should I believe the dealer?

when order is placed for a customer or dealership, they know what was ordered. sometimes, a dealer can claim to get extra allocations.

about a month after orders are placed, order numbers are received. 3-4 weeks before delivery vin numbers are avail.

by then the dealers know what is coming or not.

Re: Should I believe the dealer?

Something similar happened to me. They didn’t have the G I wanted in stock, so we sat down and looked at their sheets and found the one I wanted. Unfortunately, it was scheduled to arrive in about two months (this was last Dec and I didn't want to wait). The sales guy said if we wanted, we could put a deposit down and ensure that we got that car. We gave them a credit card and about 1-2 weeks later my car had arrived, much sooner than expected!

We were told that the car must have been on a dock somewhere just waiting to go to AZ, but once they realized that it was sold they brought it out immediately. In fact, they never even ran our CC for the deposit. I was very happy to get my G sooner than expected and I doubt it was test driven by anyone else, there were less than 10 mi on the car. It was a good experience overall.
