anyone experience a tangible increase in MPG?

i was wondering, since our cars are so slow if it was worth it to do NA breathing/exhaust mods. my reasoning behind it would be to increase overall fuel efficiency since that too can use a lot of help.
yeah

Z-Tube and High Flow Air filter are probably the best bang-for-buck MPG increases you'll get... because overall they cost like 100 bucks combined.
Mine went up about 2 MPG consistently over about one year of driving and always keeping track of fuel economy on a weekly basis. I put in a plenum spacer too and that did very little, if anything to increase fuel economy further.

I put a K&N drop-in filter in mine, but I'm taking it out and switching to an Amsoil EA Nanofiber filter once I put the car back on the road in Spring. I don't really recommend the K&N's because they let a ton of dirt in. I always do my own oil changes, and I've noticed that my oil got really really dirty when I switched to the K&N filters. K&N's let a lot of air through, but they also let a ton of dirt in.
Supposedly the Amsoil Nanofiber filters let almost as much(if not just as much) air in as the K&N's do, but they catch dirt particles that are up to 10 times smaller than those caught by K&N. Even if the Amsoil filters aren't quite 100% as efficient at air-flow as the K&N's, I'd be willing to sacrifice a tiny bit of that MPG gain and even 1 or 2 HP for the peace of mind in knowing that my new Amsoil EA Nanofiber Air Filter is doing such a great job catching dirt.
In all reality though.... most people seem to say that the Nanofiber filters yield nearly identicle economy and performance numbers as the K&N's. Believe it or not, the Amsoil filters are actually cheaper to buy too.

wtf r u used to driving? a ferrari?
i was used to driving my 97 maxima gxe 5speed which i modded with normal NA bolt ons. it reached my best time of 14.05@98mph before i quit. that car definately felt more lively due to the lighter weight. it also carried 5 passengers, luggage and a surfboard on the roof. of course, it's not as "baller" as the G's good looks. i also have an S13 240sx coupe with an SR swap putting out 331whp last time it was tuned. that car probably weighs about 2,700lbs with a rollcage and widebody. now that car definately feels "quick" almost violent going in a straight line let alone drifting. the G is a nice coupe, but definately not an overachiever like some other nissans. i remain loyal to the VQ engine. i'm still a believer. it's just spending big money on NA mods and still not catching up to the likes of mustang GTs or M3s is a bit discouraging. the only breathing mod that seems worth saving/spending on is a pair of twin turbos or something made by subaru or mitsubishi. and if it's refinement you're looking for, any given '05 bmw 3series will offer superior fit and finish. heck even the windshield defroster is overengineered. this car feels like an "in between" car. maybe i'll snap out of it tomorrow as my G35 still looks damn sexy.

Dude i beat gt's and im bone stock. The only ones that i havent raced are the 05/06 model GT. But the 99-04 Gt as long as they are stock and you can drive your car should lose to you.
