bragging of kills, discounting m3's, etc..

all over this board are stories of kills over weaker cars, especially 325's, 330's, etc.. but those cars are not as powerful.

we then see people saying, yes, m3 or vette's are faster but more $, so it is rationalized. we then see people talking of sti's or evo's and they are rationalized by saying they are not as luxurious as our G's.

it seems that we brag when we want to, but discount our losses.

i guess our kills are good when WE are challenged, not when we challenge others.

i have yet to road race mine. the closest i could have come is when some honda accord (not 6 cyl) and looked stock, tried to be a little fancy. my car was 2 days old, i was in no hurry, and i knew it would be no competition if i hit the gas. kind of like when your son challenges you to something and you don't even respond, knowing it's not worth the effort.

but, do we over-rationalize our wins and losses?

04 6mtC, DG - possibly most babied G on the board.

Re: bragging of kills, discounting m3's, etc..

I do not race, probably never will. Only bragging that should be done are those that win races at the track. I don't like the pissing contest of who's better or faster.

Most of us on this board are driving this car, whether financed or leased. Chances are most of us could have opted for a more expensive/faster/luxurious car, but we didn't. Why? I chose this one for the looks, a little touch of class, and I like having something that's not so common on the road (even though it's becoming commonplace now), it's just my personal taste. I'm not particularly moved w/the M3's interior, and bimmers are almost as common as hondas. They all look the same to me.

Wait...I went off on a tangent. Anyone have a brain for sale?...maybe some of you can sense the sarcasm. I think all the talk about who beat who is completely pointless, like my post that you just read through to the end. So you can beat an M3, sometimes I can take a crap and don't even need to wipe my a$$. How's that?

-edit- I actually do have to wipe once, but it's sometimes clean! really, it is! You killed what? que que que?

You'll find this mentality on every single car enthusiast board. It's just the way it is. People bought a car, and now they want to feel that their car is better than any other car. When I was on the Legend forums, people would say that they beat S2000's.

I just accept that these posts will continue. I'm just looking forward to the next 5AT vs 6MT thread. I'm sure that thread will come out with new exciting revelations about our cars.

ok yeah ummm serum i didnt need to know that but thanks for sharing.

StudlyMoble i dont understand the point to this thread. Why would you post your loss. lets think about this. some guy just beat me in his M3 i am mostly licky pissed off and disapointed why the hell would i come home and make a thread about my loss.
As far as posting wins well yes that is bragging but who really cares. This is a G35 forum so why not brag.
As far as justifying the win or the loss well i dont see why not.
Im sorry i just dont really understand your post what is it u want debated here?

I am with you studly, we have to give credit when it's due. I saw one guy who posted a loss to a 330, I take my hat off to him. If you don't want to give credit when it's due, don't race an M3, even if it is 20,000 more. Still love the G. Although I haven't had a chance to race anything competitive, besides a CL Type S.

E_K is right of course, the juvenile testosterone levels are high on almost all auto boards - it's usually worse on the boards for the entry-level cars [ "My Kia owned that Echo!" ]. It's about the "mine is bigger than yours" syndrome....and about self esteem.

Much of it has to do with the life experiences of the posters; those who have little in their lives to be proud of are more likely to post "kill" stories ( either true or imagined ones ). Those who are more "experienced" in life have less need to prove anything by bragging about beating someone in a pointless "race" in which the other car may not have actually been participating.

As to the point of this thread - those who don't "understand" it can just skip it...and go back to reading the kill threads. This thread has as much of a "point" as any kill story does...to those who understand the issue.

Has everyone noticed that most of these "Kill Stories" and 5AT vs 6MT come up in the Coupe Board?

Gordgee, care to Psycho Analyze that for us?

Has to be too much testosterone in Coupe owners. Too bad we can't harness that hormone for all our cars. We would not need any other power adders then.

Didn't want a pi$$ing contest to start. Too many take things too personal on this Board.
