I just ordered my G yesterday and I went without the trunk mat. Then I thought about it and I have a question. Without the trunk mat, is the spare tire and all that covered up still? Or, is it just out in the open? I thought it was just an add-on I didn't need.

I don't think I've ever seen one that didn't come with it... they just throw it in every car, and pull it out if you didn't "order" it. It's one of those things you tell the dealer "I'll pay X amount Throw in the trunk mat and you've got a deal." See if you can call them and get them to throw it in...

Anyway, without the trunkmat, all of that is covered up, yes. It's just a plain interior gray, no G35 emblem, etc. Pretty bare, but hey, it's a trunk. Everything's covered up though, so you won't stare at your spare [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]

There's a full floor cover, and it's topped with utilitartian carpeting that's the same as what covers the rest of the trunk's interior. It's perfectly fine, just not as luxurious looking as the floor mat. For only $70 though, I think the embroidered, edge-trimmed carpeted mat is a good value, even though I didn't initially plan on ordering it (it came with the car, and I pretty much "had" to take it). I'm not at all sorry I have it.

 

I tried not to get it too. They put it in the car and wouldn't take it out. Try not to get it and I will sell you mine for $50.00 I took it out as soon as I got the car home.

That trunk mat also acts like a sound insulation. If you are planning on filling your trunk with subs don't get it.
