G35 Key problem...key gone bad?

I haven't used my extra spare key for my G in a long time, like a couple of years, and when I tried it the other day it wouldn't start the car. It just cranked over, sounded like it was fine, but wouldn't start. I'm guessing it's a problem with the transponder chip. The main key that I always used works fine as it always did...weird.

Anyone else have this prob? Not sure if it lost it's memory, or if the car lost the memory for that key since it wasn't used for so long, or maybe the key just went bad??? No clue.

are you sure that it's a key with a transponder in it and not a valet key?

All the keys should be able to start the car. Did you have any work done at the dealer since last time you used your spare key? Maybe they screwed up something and had to reprogram your key, or lost your key, had a new one made by cross referencing to the VIN and programmed your ignition to the new key.

when going back to dealer to re flash key,,besure to bring all u have so they reflash all of them with the new code........... same applys to remotes if u ever need to replace 1 bring others to reflash..... never use a key that is not programmed for your vehicle ,like an extra hide a key for the doors in your ign it will disable your ign and it wont start.

Yeah, I had my window regulators replaced when they went bad about 2-3 months ago. Never tried the extra key since then...just the regular one I use every day. But they had that key with the car, so they could have re-programmed it and not the key at home.

I know it's simple to reprogram, but I live at least an hour from the closest dealer, and can't get there with my 80 hr/week schedule

oh, I know with the window regulators they had to reprogram something in the computer to reset the auto-roll down feature to the right amounts with the new motor units and stuff....I wonder if that could have messed up the key codes in the car?
