I've gotten as much as 340 miles before filling up...that's without the light coming on.
If you haven't modified ANYTHING on your G, you'd probably need it looked at.

There are some factors that influence your gas milage, most of them others have already covered. Here are a few that hasn't: Braking makes a huge difference on gas milage, the more you brake, the less the gas milage. Pretty obvious~ Tire pressure also makes some difference.

I took the coupe on a 500mi trip this past week, and averaged well over 27mpg on the highway. This is cruising mostly between 70-85mpg from Mass. to NYC and back with some traffic. I usually get around 15-16mpg in heavy city traffic, but that's to be expected from any car in PITA traffic.

Has anyone else noticed the faux pas with the 'econ' air control? It is simply impossible to reduce engine load by recirculating air-conditioned cabin air. The second the "econ mode" is used the air conditioner begins to suck in hot air form the outside. Thus the "econ mode" cannot benefit from the air it has already cooled down and dehumidified. Due to this the engine has to constantly spend extra energy to cool down hot outside air. All of the other cars I own re-circulate interior air when in economy mode. Would this contribute to the gas milage concerns being a recurring topic?

After getting 15-15.5 mpg for the first 7 weeks (got only 14.5 the 3rd week!?) of having my G, I finally hit 16 mpg last week, with some heavy foot driving mixed in! :O I know, it still sux, but hopefully this is a sign that my gas mileage will slowly be improving after break-in.

In an effort to increase the gas mileage, I added a bottle of STP gas treatment into my latest tankful of gas. Then I searched this site and found a post that says Infiniti doesn't recommend gas additives to this car. Have I done something bad to my car?

You should be good, it just increases the octane, and a couple other little factors....
What they really mean is it shouldn't be any habit of trying to boost perfromance!

i have the same problem....1400 miles and i have yet to avg anything higher than 14mpg....would an ECU reset help at all?

Same here. It's pretty consistently at 19MPG too. The best tank I got 23.5 MPG, but that had a lot of highway driving involved.

i have 4k and im getting like 17-18mpg.......with enough complains could we get the nissan headquarters to do something about it? It may sound silly but i would never have expected such crap milage.... i dont drive hard, i shift at 2-3rpm to save gas. epa estimated 20 and 27 which should average out to like 22-23mpg mixed. I indeed do mix alot and i still get 17-18.....very odd

My very first tank got an average of 18mpg. That's pretty good because I'm sure the original 40 miles were from test drives (and it showed something like 12mpg when I first looked at it). My second tank had an average of 21mpg. I'm driving an automatic and it is mixed highway/city driving. Some of the city driving is very short stop-sign to stop-sign traffic.

The mileage is better than my previous car - a Mustang V6 stick. Considering that this car has 33% more power and can really *drink* gas if I slam on the gas, and is an automatic, that's pretty good. The EPA estimates are always really out there, they estiamted my stick civic at 35/40, when in reality I got more like 28 average. Overall I'm satisfied with the mileage. If I was getting 12-13mpg I might be a little more upset, though, but I could *easily* see getting that kind of mileage if I was stopping and starting a lot without any highway driving.

My experience this past week:
Horrible City Traffic: 15mpg
Normal City Traffic (suburb): 18mpg
Highway Traffic: 21mpg
Highway Late Night Cruising: 27mpg

My last three tanks, 19mpg, 20mpg, and 20mpg. I only have about 1600 miles and its a 5AT

I don't thnk that I have ever had in city gas mileage over 17 mpg since I have had my car and I am on 11,000 miles now. I noticed though that switching to synthetic oil and putting a new air filter on my own(I guess Infiniti doesn't inspect air filters when they change your oil because mine was absolutely filthy) that my mpg has skyrocketed. I really don't know what it is now because I keep disconnecting my battery for various reasons and that resets my trip odometer reading.

I just measured my mileage aside from the Navi for the first time. The Navi reported 17.4 for this tankful, but my miles traveled / how much gas I pumped in was 20.6.

So: 17.4 from the Navi, 20.6 from the calculation. Good for the mileage, but bad for the Navi being 15% off. I suspect since I drive it pretty hard it has a difficult time keeping up during acceleration and braking, and maintaining accuracy during those processes is harder to accomplish.

Anyway, I'm glad I'm getting better mileage than I thought.
