i used to change gears w/o depressing the clutch in my dads nissan pickup and i've done it in the G once or twice all the way up to 6th gear just to see if i could do it in the G. I don't do it anymore

How can you tell someone this is not bad for their car when you don't know if they are matching properly? Don't tell them that when it is a fact you can seriously damage the transmission if this is not done properly!

Before I was a network engineer I was a line mechanic and have personally rebuild transmissions with bad syncro's etc. Don't tell me you cannot mess up your transmission doing this if you can't do it well.

I advise anyone wanting to do this to go and learn in something other than your G35!!!

maybe to pretend your an 18 wheeler driver; big trucks are shifted this way as well as most street bikes. It saves from using the clutch, but does wear the synchronizers a little faster and can be brutal to the trans if someone does not know how to do it already!

I would suggest that, before trying this, anyone interested should price out new synchros and the labor to get them replaced as the cost may outweigh the "uberkewlness" of not using the clutch for no reason other than to show off. Honestly, go ahead and break your car if you want, but if you're going to break it, know the consequences and learn how to fix it yourself.

I just tried this on a crappy car, so yeah, I was wrong about it not working. However, I will never do it in my G. Why take the risk?
