Got in an accident.. HELP :(

Hey guys, I just got into an accident and the person (lincoln aviator) hit me on the driver side right by the rear wheel well. It left a good 5-7 or more inch dent as well as paint scratches all over. He also damaged my rim (Volk SF Challenge). The rim now has a huge 7 inch gash around the outer lip and the chrome peeled off. I can't get this fixed can I? I shuold just demand a new one right? Any help / feedback would be appreciated!. I cant seem to get a hold of the other parties insurance (Statefarm) and they dont seem to have a 1800 number. I guess I have to wait til Tuesday to contact the agent directly. sigh*.. soo sad

When I got into an accident a few years back, I just called my insurance company and they took care of the rest. And if you want to get your wheels repaired I would recommend www.wheeltechniques.com they do good work and repair insanely damaged wheels.

You dont want to report to your insurance first. First you want to contact the other parties insurance company and let them resolve it, if not then contact your insurance. My cousin got in 2 wrecks and called her own insurance company first befor the other parties and on her driving record with the insurace company showed she was at fault for the accident causing her insurance premiums to increase. Called the insurance company and they told her she should have reported to the other insurace company first so it wouldn't be held against her. Know it sound crazy, but thats what happened. BTW the insurace company was Progressive

1st, you should have gotten a police report. get the police to state who was at fault

2nd, get all the information you have, and contact your insurance company. give your insurnace co the police report #...

your insurance will take care of everything. your insurance will not go up. since you weren't at fault....

and please, get new rims... dont' fix it.... once the wheels are damaged, the intergity, balance, built of the rims have all been compromised... visit the rims manufacturer website... it cleary states to never re-weld, or repair any damaged rims... if its a little nick, then yes u can fix it, but if a huge chunk came off, its badly bend you get a new one.
