Exclamation sunroof creek diy needed

hey guys,
i have a coupe and as most of the coupe owners know when u tilt or colse your sunroof it makes a nasty creeking sound. i had this problem in my old coupe and now i have it in my new coupe.

i dont have time to go to the dealer and i cant take the squeeking while i drive

if it's the rubber seals, use a "black trim" polish on the window rubber. i use meguiar's trim restorer or dupont's lubricant for o-rings, seals, etc. you want the molding to be nice and moist or it'll "skip" rapidly against the metal and that causes the creaking. if it's something mechanical, better take it to the dealer or you could break a trim piece doing it yourself.

i used some wd40 and lubed up the rubber around the glass, it stops the creek but its only a temporary solution

^ Instead of WD40, why don't you use grease?

Grease will attract dirt & make more noise . Clean the seal good & let it dry. Then use a "wet type" silicone lubricant to lube it.

I know there is a TSB for this problem. It recommend using 3M Silicone Lubricant (Wet Type) (Part no. 08877) on the sunroof rubber.

I wouldn't recommend using Grease or WD40. These may damage the rubber. I don't know anything about the Dupont Lube...

Good luck.

Sunroof noises...............

Mine doesn't make any noise since I cleaned all channels and put WD-40 on
a rag and gave it a once over.........no squeeks, groans or moaning. My G
stays in a heated/airconditioned garage when it's not being driven and I'm
sure that helps too.

Ive had this same exact problem - had to take it to the dealer twice to have them stop the squeaking. Good to see this thread though, because I am sure the noise will return and when it does i would rather fix it myself then go back to the dealer.
