BBK Question...
I have been looking around and i have seen that some of the guys are running 6 piston kits in the front and then they still have the stock calipers in the rear. I believe that with brakes they are designed to have 2/3 front and 1/3 rear as far as the stopping power for the weight...?
I was wondering if this is safe to do...run a 6 piston on the front and then the OEM non-brembo on the rear? Anyone have any input on this?

# of piston is not the issue. But I see what you are saying. The proper term is "brake bias". Yes proper brake bias is very important. It's a calculation using the total piston area (ie... area of one piston or 2 or 6), rotor size, pad size, pad friction coefficent etc.. Then comparing the front with the rear.
But in general terms, if one greatly increases the front braking power, the rears should be upgraded also.
I ran 13" rotors and 300zx 4 piston calipers on my maxima fronts. Initial braking was great but the tendency to lock the fronts went WAY up. When I upgraded the rears to balance out the bias, the braking went though the roof! Incredible braking and greatly reduced front end dive. And of course greatly reduced front brake lock.

i dont think many people know this but few BBK systems out there actually show a significant increase in 60-0 stopping power... BBK systems are more used for track and AutoX events where break fade is a nagging problem... running 6 piston front and OEM's in the rear isnt ideal, however if your not using it for serious track use then i doubt its gonna make a huge difference
Well, ultimately the tires become the limiting factor. If your stock brakes can overcome the tires, then a BBK won't fair too much better. Fortunately, most here upgrade their tires also (as you have to to run a bbk 90% of the time).
I think alot of the increased 60-0 times might be attributed to upsetting the bias.
I'd be curious to know the brake stats of a G sedan w/ the Coupe/Z oem brembos (frt/rear) vs the stock times. ie.. an 03 w/ the smallest rotors and single piston calipers. Or maybe a non-brembo vs brembo equipped G coupe.
