I have had my G for only 2 months and I already have a windshield crack (noticeable rock impact) that immediately ran without a chance to fix. I am not surprised by the crack since I live in a rock infested desert and had to replace my windshield on my previous Audi four times in five years. My plan is to have a professional windshield replacement company (non-dealer) do the replacement with an OEM windshield. I am just wondering if anybody out there has had to replace their original factory installed windshield? If so, has anyone had any problems with the replacement (wind noise, rattling, rearview mirror problems, etc.). I would appreciate any feedback.

That windshield is around $700 minus the parts and labor to install. If the installer puts it in correctly, you should not have any problems. You may need to purchase a new gasket. Since the car is pretty new, you might not. I have a quarter size spot on my windshield. It sucks..

 

windshield was recently replaced on my coupe. don't have the invoice in front of me, but i think it was around $900 total. All new gaskets and stuff were replaced, along with an OEM windshield from Asahi. Insurance covered everything except $250.

Got it replaced by a company my insurance referred me to, All-Star Glass. They drove to my house to replace the windshield. Quality job in about an hour. No leaks or rattles. It's been about 3 weeks since the replacement and I drove it during heavy downpour once. No probs to report. Lifetime warranty against leaks and such.
