Press the little stick on the Trip Counter until it gets to the rev number (after the B Trip counter), hold the stick in for a couple of seconds until the number starts to flash, then keep pressing until you got the rev number you want to set it at. Where you set it is where it'll be a solid red light, but it'll start flashing 500 rpm before it gets there. Hope that makes sense.

So if this REV indicator is always on, can I assume that the issue is that the rev number is set really low?

The G that I am purchasing this upcoming Saturday had the light on the entire time I was test driving it. The salesman was going to look into that for me, but I guess its not a problem if I understand what its supposed to do and basically it just needs the rev number changed.

If the REV light is always on then that means that the rev limit is set to a really high number, usually between 6-7K RPM. The light will blink once you get near the rev limit number telling you to shift but if it's set too high you probably won't see it blink under normal driving conditions, it will just stay lit.

That's what I figured. I guess when I pick up the car on Saturday, I'll reset it.

What is the standard setting for that?

No, no, no. That's not the REV indicator you're talking about. That's the REV label, and it's always on so you know what the RED FLASHING LIGHT means when it turns on right below where it says "REV".

In summary:
  • "REV" word: just a label, always on.
  • Red light below (or is it above?) "REV" word: indicator to shift or whatever you want it to mean. (can set it for redline, fuel economy point, 4K break in period, etc.)

the word "REV" is always on. the shift indicator is a red blinking light right below it. If you look in the owner's manual, it tells you how to set it.
the default is 8k (the light never blinks for becomes solid). after trip B on the gauge cluster you will see a rpm setting. Hold down the button until it starts to blink. you can then push the button until you get to the desired rpm setting. then wait until it stops blinking at your desired setting. now the shift light will blink 500 rpm before and become solid at the rpm you set it at.

Thanks guys! You've been extremely helpful. I didn't see the light blink once, which means the setting must be on the upper RPM band. I didn't really push it, so that makes sense. I guess I should probably set it to around 200-300 RPM which is where it should be solid. I think I've got it now, hahaha.

there's no point in setting it that low since it serves you no purpose. you should set it for either redline or where you want to shift for daily driving. mine is at 2700 rpm

LOL, I had a typo. I meant 2000-3000 rpm.
