So lemons anyone?...i'm getting a new motor

Took the car in for an unsual chatter... Next day called only to get an "umm, looks like we'll need your car for some weeks...You may want to give the hertz rental car (ghey taurus...which is another problem in itself) back to us, because we need to get you a new motor...

Problem: Piston Slap from manufacturer...

Solve: Can go either two ways, 1) look at the bright side that i'm getting a new motor after aprox 23,000 miles but i'll have a rental for weeks upon weeks or 2) Car will never be the same, and get out of the lease if possible

As of right now, most likely going to lemon it due to other factors that fall under the lemon law guidelines... Thanks to the community for everyone that's helped with q's and answers, and sales.

First time in for this problem? Good luck with that lemon attempt.

Keep an eye on it when you get it back. Two more times (depending where you are I guess) of the same problem, and then maybe you can lemon it.

To Take A Motor Out, And Put One In, Does Not Make The Car Bad, Its A Three Hour Job. Since Your Getting A New Motor You Should Be Happy They Are Just Not Taking It Apart, Adn Trying To Fix It, It Will Be All Good, Once It Goes Inside.

+1. A motor swap on the car is pretty simple. I'd be fairly pleased if after 23K miles, I got a new engine. I don't know if they will swap the entire thing, or just portions but either way, I'd have zero reservations about keeping the car.

Has anyone actually varified it is a NEW motor and not just a rebuilt motor? If I was Nissan and I swapped out an engine due to, oh say oil consumption problem, I would fix it and put in that motor.

Oh there will have to be complete documentation as well as i will check it out myself, factory sealed parts, etc etc as far as making sure it's new..

g35rcr Feb 7, 2007 12:17 PM

what do you mean the car will never be the same, i love how people just spout off without any research.

Well, what I meant was are you sure you will be getting a New Engine vs. a refurbish one? I'm not saying that Nissan will pull a fast one on you and give you a refurbished motor and say it's new. I'm just wondering why they would give a new one while they can give a refurbish one. If someone actually got a motor replaced, I'm just wondering if they actually know whether it was new or refurbished. I've been checking my oil lately and all is well (although that damn dipstick is hard to tell sometimes).

That certainly does not qualify as a lemon.

I'd be happy with a 0 mile motor
