Question to those with new engines!

I have an '04c 6mt with 38k miles, and recently the dealer determined that I'm low on oil, and after the 1000 mile test that I do in fact burn oil. Well he just called me and said that the brand new engine came in. I asked him if it's the new rev-up motor or the 2004 280hp one, but he assumes it's the new one that goes into 2006 models. Since he was not sure, I am wondering if anyone on here could confirm. He also told me that the long 1000 mile break-in will not be necessary maybe 200 miles. All of you with new engines come in with the details. And will my odometer miles go down to 0?
Thanks in advance.

The ecu's are different for the revup motors as well. Ask if you're getting a new ecu.

And I just got a replacement revup motor this past Friday. I was told to follow the normal factory break-in schedule.

my dad has an 06 rev-up and got back an 06 rev-up so i would assume it would be the same. i doubt they would upgrade the engine unless they only had 06 engines laying around

Well, the dealer told me that he thinks it's an 06 motor cause Infiniti wouldn't just go and build an old motor from 2004. I'm sure it's possible that Infiniti might have new 2004 engine in their warehouse, so that's why I'm not really sold on what the dealer said. He added that all externals like my airbox, alternator, etc will stay, that they only replacing the long block. Anything specific that I can look at to tell the difference between the two when I go there?

You will not get the 2006 engine, they will be producing the VQ in several forms for different global applications for at least 7 years. There is no shortage of these engines and too many items are not compatible; you definitely will get the same model you have... Salesmen and most service advisor's know very little; ask to speak to the lead shop tech. and he will verify this info.
