Overheating problem
Hey, I just took my '04 Couple to a shop I go to to get the 30k service done which they replaces both belts and lately my car gauage is acting very funny. Mostly sitting, the gauage will start to rise almost hitting the top to where it would overheat, and then I will get going (moving) and it will lower immediately, then when I stop again for a couple minutes it will go back up. Yesterday it did this while it was raining and 70 degrees outside. I know it might be the belts arent tight, but i'm thinking maybe the thermostat is jacked up? I'll probably take it to the place and see if the belts are tight, but anyone have any advice?

air in the line....or LOW fluid levels....check the fluids...if u can start it when its cold and sitting over night..take the cap off and add water as the car is running see if its low!
Anytime this has happned to me the thermostat isn't opening all the way. It's
ok around town but the minute you get up speed the temp gauge will start to
climb. It doesn't show up on a pressure test and at idle the fluid is moving
but at 45 mph is will start to climb. I've had dealerships replace everything
in the cooling system but the thermostat and I've told them what it was but
no they'd rather replace hoses...fans etc. Then I'd go home replace the
thermostat and normally with a cooler unit and the problem is solved.........
try it!! Or take it back to the Stealership!
