factory JACK

Has anyone used the factory jack with success?

or is it just me? i recently had my rear tire go out on me on the highway... it was pretty scary when the car move from left to right at 75 miles.

well when i was jacking up the car... i got it up with the jack. when i was starting to take the lug nuts off. i had to apply a pretty good amount of force to let the nuts off. well while doing this i guess i moved the car but barely! and the jack came tumbling down! luckly my rim was still on. but damn that jack was bent up!?!?! wth? the ground was leveled, my car was in park, i put the jack under the front rear wheel where you are suppose to. but for some reason that thing was bent?

has anyone else experienced with this and also is it under warranty if your side wall just blew? i only had 11k miles.

yes, when I was young and my dad showed me how to do this safely:
Your suppose to apply the force before you jack the car up... You break the lugs loose, then jack the car, then change the tire, spin the lugs back on with slight pressure, lower the car, tighten the lugs.... You have to think about safety and the way you explained tells me you did not break the lugs down loose enough to safely work because you needed much force with the car jacked up. You can safely put out as much force needed while the car is on the ground; it's not going anywhere and neither is the wheel until you spin the lugs many times...
There are much better jacks out there you can use but they are heavy and take up more space so manufacturers don't use them much.

About the sidewall, I don't think that is under warranty but the tires do have some road hazard adjustment that will offset the price of new ones; it depends on treadwear, miles, etc.

a lil late tho eh? ive used the jack many times...even used it to put on my friends test pipes on...used two on the his g but neva had any issues. the warrenty is worth a try...if nt most jacks that go in cars will work, just get one that can take the same or more weight then the oem should fit in the slot.

Your welcome. Good luck with the tire, you may just get lucky and have little or nothing to pay... Be safe out there!

THe factory jack does fold or deform rather easy if you jack it up too high. Mine folded on me when I tried to jack my G way up to put in a jack stand. Luckily I had the jack stand in place when it collapsed. Be careful with the factory jack and invest in a floor jack (low profile) for the garage!

happened to me once too. i got lucky as well. the tire stayed on. anyway, invest in a descent jack. its well worth it to spend a few on a jack as opposed to a few hundred in repairs. thats just infiniti cutting costs. hard to believe on a car that costs that much. maybe for a scion.

btw, i loosened the lugs first.

Same thing happen t ome last month. A friend an I was putting my 18's back on in my garage. When we was putting on the on tire the car rocked a little and the Jack came from under the car. Good thing the tire caught the car from falling. The damn jack was all bent up and yes the e brake was on.
