Well, I don't know what happened last night but while I was driving to my girlfriends house, I got challenged three times.

First, it was this kid in souped-up mazda 6. It was a joke and a waste of gas but at least he pulled up next to me on the next light and gave me compliments about my car.

Second chalenge came from two dudes in newer camaro Z28. I was driving at about 60MPH when I noticed this camaro coming from behind very fast. He then slowed down and lined up next to me. We both hit it at about same time and when I hit 90 he was about two car lenghts behind me. We then stoped at the red light and I could hear him reving the engine. The light turned green and by the time I hit 70 mph he was about 4-5 car lenghts behind me. I got to the next red light and was waiting to see his face but he decided to pull to an empty parking lot right before the stop light.

Finally, just when I thought I had enough excitement for a single night, this dude in 540i pulled next to me on the red light. He was in his 40s and I really did not expect him to want to race. The light turned green and we both took off pretty hard. I was at about 70mph and about a car lenght ahead of him. We then stopped on the next light. He flashed his lights and was asking me to roll down my window and so I did it. He told me that he was not ready and that he wanted to do it again. No problem, I rolled up my window, turned off my VDC and as the light turned green, we both took off pretty hard. Again, I beat him by a car lenght. He then slowed down and turned to some side street. Too bad because I really wanted to see his face after he got smoked two times.

So, finally I got to my girlfriends house and after I told her this exciting story her only words were "Whatever, can you drop me off at the mall this Saturday so I do not have to spend an hour looking for a parking space?"

good story man..i got one myself...i come out of the movies after watching Gothika the other night and i have two other buddies in my coupe (AT...should have gotten stick) when i pull up to a red light. This black supped up VW GTI with light tints pulls up next to me and the kid nods at me and revs it..i turn off my vdc and nod back..my buddies know how i am so they strap their belts on and say "oh [censored] here we go". The light turns green and we punch it and while the GTI's wheels are spinning im off but he catches up a bit since my car was heavier..i still manage to beat him by about have a car length.

When we come up to the next light we run it again and we both get a good take off but i go ahead a bit at high rpms and he slows down quickly so while i am celebrating cop lights go on and for some dumb reason i decide to keep goin...luckyly the gti also decides to run and turns on a side street and the cops decide to go after him and from there on i was cutting through streets like crazy not trying to get caught..i was scared as hell but it was an experience

I have had mine for two months and no one here in my area has tried to challenge me yet.
I must admit that my wife on the other hand, although has absolutely zero interest in cars, fully understands me when I look for the farthest parking space in the mall.

Nope. Just a stock 5AT. I do believe that the guy in 540i had an AT also. Otherwise, I am not sure I would be able to beat a 6 MT 540i.

 

Just another proof that it doesn't pay to race on the streets. You were lucky to get off that easily othwerwise your car would have been impounded for 30 days. Not to mention a big fat ticket. At least that's how it is here in California. My co workers car just got impounded for a freakin speed contest. So both of their cars got towed $400 + for the ticket, $180+ for towing and $30 / day in the impound lot. Not worth all the money going to waste just to find out if you can beat a guy in the other car. Just my .02 cents.

NIce kills. But are you sure it was a Z28 and not a V6 camaro? Don't mean to flame, but if it was a Z28 the guy just couldn't drive. '98 and up Z28's with the LS1 run low 13's bone stock. My '01 SS put down 314rwhp....bone stock and ran 13.22! I haven't ran my "g" yet, but I know my SS would kill it.

 

I was kind of thining the same thing, I just don't see our g's even having a chance with a Z28
