Re: Anyone also own an FX?

Also the Car & Driver article said the FX45 performed more like a "Porsche" than the Cayenne!
So again, I'd take the FX45 over the FX35.......sorry, to you FX35 drivers, but I still believe there is no substitute for a V8!!
If they ever put a V8 in the G coupe, I'll trade mine in immediately.

Re: Anyone also own an FX?

i test drove the touareg in the V8. very, very nice SUV. its driver's dash and interior impressed me more than the FX35/45's. and although i'd probably never use it, the way it raised and lowered itself was a neat trick. and yeah, baseprice-wise, the V8 touareg was about $5k less than the FX45.

but for me, i want the V6 (i won't be towing things) so for the money and options, the FX35 comes out a better value than the touareg V6.

Go drive the FX35, then drive the competition and the substandard. The FX45's only competition is the Porsche. The VW V8 and hte FX35 are about equal performers. (Until you look at fuel consumption, acceleration, handling, braking, quality and gadgets for the $.) By the way, VW has had major recalls and reliability issues in the past couple of years. Infiniti has not.

I drove both and made the better (cheaper also) decision. You should also reread that article for the not so glowing parts again.

IF I were in the market for an FX, the option I'd ALWAYS check mark is the "bigger engine." That goes for pretty much any vehicle. I'd forgo the "tech package" before I settle for the smaller engine.

I didn't settle for anything. Drive the 6 cylinder, then drive the competition. I didn't WANT the V8. I wanted tech package goodies. I still love it when people ask me why my truck doesn't take a key to start it.

No way Japanese V8 is better than its V6. The 3.5L is a great engine.

Bigger sure as hell doesn't mean better. You tell me the V8 Mustang's bigger engine is "better" than the M3's 333hp 3.2L and anyone will tell you you're full of sh*t.

Re: Anyone also own an FX?

This is GeoBau-- I'm on SnM's computer at the moment. I was going to hold my tongue, but I just had to respond to this unmitigated crap. It's drech and you know it. The FX is just fine with its 3.5L engine... I don't know why anyone would have to get the 45 unless they really wanted a jumpy ride with something to prove. Ask any car connaiseur (French spelling-- not Amercan) and they will agree whole-heartedly. No one has "settled" for an FX35... To forgo the tech package in order to get a "larger engine" (35hp gains) that is actually detuned from its almost standard output (Q and M) is to make a decision based on machismo, and not performance and luxury. The argument that a V8 just is innately better is a complete fallacy these days... The 6 offers both better fuel economy AND better performance through incredible torque. Just my two cents.

I'm going to go get some graham crackers.
