Heavier weight oil
Hey guys,
In light of all the oil-consumption talk lately (and the fact that I have the same problem with my 6mt), I'm considering trying a heavier-weight oil to stem the loss. Right now I'm just using Mobil1 5w30, as most do.
Has anyone tried this? Does it seem to help? If so, what did you switch to?

A friend of mine with a Z that has the oil consumption problem has been suggested to use a heavier weight oil like 15W-50. This *should* be of some help, but I'd see if anyone else with a VQ has tried it. Unfortunately, my buddy is too lazy to use a different oil or take his car into Nissan for a new motor.

Mobile 1 is a very thin oil, I recommend German Castrol Syntec 0w-30. Dont let the 0w fool you, The oil is almost a 40 weight. Its only available at Autozone. It is also a true synthetic like Mobile 1 used to be.
I have seen several used oil analysis on the VQ engine with this oil, and the VQ loves it. One member of Bob is the Oil Guy ran this oil in his G35 for 7500 miles and oil test results showed virtually no wear at all.

They lost the case, so they decided to start using the cheaper base stock just like Castrol, pennzoil etc. Why make a real synthetic that costs you more money to make then the competition who is charging the same?
German Castrol Syntec 0w-30, Amsoil, redline are some of the few remaining TRUE synthetics( Group IV). The other Castrol syntecs, penzzoil platinum and now Mobile 1 are not TRUE synthetics. They are hydrolocked Group III oils.

P.S. Autozone is the only place you can find GC
