New, Couple of Questions...
Newly registered member here, but I have been trolling around the forums for a while now and finally decided to join. I currently drive a 2005 Mazda3 GT which I am happy with in general and I still think that it's the best car in its class. Needless to say I have be itching to upgrade to a G35 Coupe for a while now and could be doing so as early as this spring. My tentative plan is to get a loaded 6spd 04 white on black. I've got a couple of questions:
-Do the Brembo brakes delete the ABS from the coupe?
-How much better is the interior of the 05+ (nearest Infiniti dealership is a 2 hour drive)
-Is it just 06 coupes that have been experiencing oil consumption issues or is it all coupes equipped with the rev-up engine?
Thanks in Advance.

Thanks for the reply. I see that oil consumtion issues seem to affect all model years with the rev-up engine. Since there is a good chance that I'll be importing the car from the US to Canada in order to take advantage of the favorable exchange rate, I don't want to have to deal with trying to replace an engine through a Canadian dealership (2 hours drive from my house) on a US car.

I think that I'll just make a day trip out of it and go to the Infiniti Dealership to check out the interior differences for myself. Pictures don't capture things like textures which are so important to the interior.

03-04 have plastic trim. 05-up have brushed aluminum, smooth and shiny. the new interior has an updated look and is cleaner i think. you should definitely check them out to compare.
def the 05 and up. the interior is alot nicer, everything from fit and finish to the layout. 03/04 have funny buttons and levers, looks like platic. I got hte 05, and couldn't have been happier.
I dont know about the oil thing, i probably need to check into that. I do get hte oil changed every 3.5k at either hte infiniti dealership or nissan, so i'd hope they would pick up on it

+1 on the 05, faster, 19" wheels, better interior (imo). I have an 05 with 20k and no oil issues (yet). Also good luck finding an IP with black i think they discontinued it in 04.
GT3050,
05 interior is slightly better. The main difference is the center console which is in aluminum instead of plastic with aluminum paint. The 05 6MT only have the revup engine which has not been proven as being faster that the 03/04 non-revup since the torque was lowered to increase the HP (a numbers/ marketing game). The non-revup has been more dependable. As for the Brembo they came only with the 03/04 6MT and there is not that much difference with the OEM brakes in daily driving performance. However, under hard driving condition, the Brembo performance will remain high after several subsequent hard braking and they look better. Compare to non-Brembo OEM of the 03/04 era, you are much better with the Brembo since the the non-Brembo were non-lasting. Replacement cost wise, Brembo is not significantly higher if you buy non-OEM parts. Finally, 05 and beyond came with 19" forged wheels...

Get the newest year you can afford with the most options. I compared the 04and 05 and decided the 05 interior was much better. Shop around and get what you want, don't sacrifice. I shopped for a whole year and found my 05 Blk/Gry 6MT with Navi with only 20k miles for $28k. Good deals are out there.
