5w30 vs 10w30: Problem?

I just had an oil change and they put 10w30 instead of 5w30. I live in Florida so the temp is usually 75+. Is there any problem with them switching to a 10w30?

Nope. No biggie as the Florida temps won't really affect the W rating aka winter weight viscosity.

I dont think so....

I run 5w30 in the winter and 10w30 in the summer.

In your climate, 10 might be a better choice anyway...

Up here in the Great White North is a different story tho.....

Oil viscosity.......?

It really doesn't matter if you use 5W30 or 10W30. If your using synthentic
don't switch back to normal oil......on the other hand it's better for your G
if you use synthentic but still change it every 3K miles!

Along with 10w-30 and 5w-40. I use 10w-30 in the summer. I generally put in 3qts 10w-30 with 2 qts of 10w-40 in the summer. This past change it was 4 of 5w30 with 1 of 5w50.

Yeah, Castrol at walmart or at autozone, it's 4.49 on sale right now. I'm gonna run Castrol 0w30 (GC) for the next couple changes since it runs almost like a 40 weight. I hope all the praise from bobistheoilguy.com on GC is true. It's suggested to be the best match for our VQs by many members on board. However, one member got good results on pennzoil dino (better than penzoil platinum) based on blackstone results.

every 3k is overrated and overkill... unless u do a lot of short distance driving where your car hasnt completely warmed up... propaganda started but jiffy lube and oil change companies... check your owners manual and the oil manufacturer..
