HELP - Trunk Release won't work? Fuse?

All of a sudden today, my trunk release both on the keyfob and inside the cabin stopped working.. I crawled in, manually released, nothing is stuck, still doesn't work. I pulled the cover on the fusebox, thinking that is it, but there is no fuse that displays the trunk release?

Any ideas?

Tim

There most likely not a fuse just for the trunk release. It tied in with some other circuits for that one fuse.
My suggestion is to pull each one and look to see if blown or test.
If none blown...idk...maybe pwr release mechanism gone at trunk.

I had a similar problem, but my remote worked to release it. I forgot to turn the trunk back on after doing my Nuvi install. It's located on the side of your lower glove box.

It isn't the shutoff in the Glove Box.. That is still on.. It has to be a fuse, but I can't figure out which one.. I started pulling randomly, but they have all been good so far.

Anyone have an idea which fuse it would be?

I just tried every fuse.. they all look good.. I checked the fuse panel under the hood, none of the fuses there seem to resemble a trunk release fuse.. Maybe something else is broken? The release mechanism maybe?

There is no fuse for the trunk release. I looked in the wiring diagram and it is controlled by the BCM (body control module) which also controls seats, windows, etc. I recall reading in one of the posts of another member with the same problem that had broken wires as they were routed near the rear seat. Check the obvious connectors and then follow and inspect the wiring harness. It's a PITA, but not much else you can do, unless you take it to the stealership.

If it's under warranty, take to Dealer and let it be their PITA.

Had no idea it was tied into the BCM. Thanx Mr. Gee for that 411.

i had this problem and it was a broken wiring harness. just take it in and they will fix it. chances are its a wiring problem for you anyway. if you want to fix it yourself get the wiring diagram and and a meter and find out, if you dont have or know how to use a meter, check for broken connections or bypass the switches and old wiring and see if it works then youll know whats wrong

I had this problem too. I manually popped the trunk with the car off and then turned the car on, then hit the trunk release button with the trunk opened. Some how my release was confused for some reason and wouldn't click to open. It started working with a few iterartion or combinations of opening and closing with the car off and on. It was a while back but I am pretty sure this is what I did to fix it.

Had the exact same problem. Replaced the release mechanism in the trunk. Was on backorder last summer. Oakville as in Ontario?
