Wow.
You need to beef up on your detailing skills in a hurry! Black aint' easy.

Basics:
1. NEVER GO TO A CAR WASH. I don't care if it's brushless, soapless, waterless, or whatever, if you care about your car and the way it will look down the road, don't do it. All kind of crap gets left behind from other cars. The "soap" will take off any wax, and swirls will be the outcome once you hit the sun, ESPECIALLY BLACK!!!
2. Don't even think about just using "regular" soap of any kind. Buy car wash intended for CARS. The ONLY exception to this is if you are trying to take off old wax and then only a mild dishwashing detergent like Dawn.
3. Buy GOOD towels. 100% cotton and make sure they're absorbant. Microfiber preferably.
4. Get to learning quick and in a hurry. You're going to have to spend a little money on waxes and polishes and towels. Forget the Turtle wax. It was okay for your Dad, but it's time has past. I would recommend Meguirs for wax or polish.. It's a good rather cheap product thats easily accesible a tAutozone or whatever and works well. Come back after some time and we'll then get you started with Advanced Zaino lessons young Jedi. ( : You're going to have to do this kind of stuff quite frequently if you want a clean car. Black is the hardest to keep clean, but when you get it there there's nothing like it.
Good luck ( :

And wait. What the hell is an Esso station? I think I remeber seeing one somewhere not too long ago, but didn't they change the name to Exxon like 20-30 years ago?!?!?!?!? My Dad used to own one. :scratches head:

I highly recommend you pick up a porter cable random orbital polisher, along with pads, and #83, #80, and #82 for the very fine swirls that is inhibatant to black cars.
