Re: Pic of painted engine cover.

So what kind of paint did you use and what kind of tools will need? any sanding required?

I would assume he used something like this <a href="http://www.duplicolor.com/products/engine.html">http://www.duplicolor.com/products/engine.html</a>.

This company was mentioned on <a href="http://www.hirevtuners.com/site/preshowseg.php?PreID=124&SegID=131">Hi-Rev Tuners</a>.

Re: Pic of painted engine cover.

I used this paint, on the engine cover you dont have to use the high temp paint if you don't want to, the cover doesn't get overly hot for this paint to handle. Once I start to get more into it and paint on the engine itself I will use the high heat stuff. There is a better color selection with the "truck,Van, Suv " paint as well. Do not neglect to use both the primer and the clear coat if you are going to do this. Without the primer the paint won't stick and the clearcoat puts a nice sheen on everything.

Hey man, much props, looks really good!
So I'm looking at the pic of your intake it's a very clean setup, but im wondering where is the maf sensor, is it built in to the Typhoon system? I have the Nismo CAI and it uses the factory MAF within the piping of the upper part of the intake i dont undertsand why and how yours is so clean. Yours looks like one straight pipe down to the filter.

Re: Pic of painted engine cover.

Hey thanks
The MAF sensor is right above the K&N sticker on right side of the tube above the Bypass valve. You can see it pop out right there, it is built in to the K&N CAI so you do not use your stock MAF port.

I have to add my 2 cents just like everyone else.... Damn does that SHI_T look great! Really nice job.... When it is done right (clear coat and all), you totally can't go wrong and it just looks awesome. Love how it meshes with the K&N blue intake and the blue grounding kit.... Great job! Enjoy.

WOW!!! yes in capital leters so you know i mean it. I must do this as soon as the weather warms up. Did you need to sand down the areas at all before you primered???

Re: Pic of painted engine cover.

Thanks guys...
No I did no sanding at all, I put 2 good coats of primer on, then 3 coats of paint, followed by 2 coats of clear coat. All in all took 2 days to complete, 2 hrs for taping and prep... then allow for thurough drying times in between coats. It was a fun DIY project to do...
