New 07 6MT...question on window tint

Just picked up a new 2007 6MT LP(metallic silver). I'm in San Diego where the sun shines every day and I'm in desperate need of window tint (makes the car look better too). Oh, and this is my very first post.

My questions:
1.) Anyone from San Diego that can recommend a good tint shop?
2.) What film brand is considered the best quality? What series of that brand?
3.) Want to see well at night but want the outline of the passengers to show during the day...20% or 35%?

Thanks everyone for their help and support on my first post.
-Paul

congrats on new purchase and welcome to the g community

1) i'm not from sd so i can't help you sorry, might wanna try the regionals section for Southern California
2) I personally use quantum tint, it has a reflective look to it rather than a dark limo look. i figure as long as you get it done by a reliable shop, you'll be fine for quality
3) 35% is your best shot since you want the outline of your passengers and want to see at night, i've known some people who have a hard time just looking out the window

GL with your tint install and post some pics!

I live in SD and used these guys. Ask for Lou. I did 50% all around because I dont like the look of tint but needed some protection on my interior. He charged me 200 cash for 5 windows, gives you a warranty info in case you move out of san diego and something happens to tint. Takes his time. Did a good job on mine, took it all the way to the edges. I will post some pics when i get home.

I live in South Carolina.....I have 20% Tint all around on my car. Not tooo dark to where you will be harassed on a daily basis but it's dark enough to def. keep the sun out.

Pay a little more and get a metallic based tint to keep the heat out. Personally I think the reflective tint looks cheesy but that's just my opinion.

I have the top of the line Solargard on my '03 daily driver. It is very good. When my wife bought her '05, our tint guy suggested 3M. It was not available when I had my '03 tinted. It does not interfere with an antenna imbedded in the window. (My '03 has an external antenna.) The 3M definitely keeps the interior cooler in the Phoenix sun than the Solargard. My G37 will get 3M.

P.S. Do not listen to AdamJ. He is living in 1998. The current ceramics (3M and most especially HuperOptik) are better than the metallics.

I am definitely getting the 5 windows done probably with 20% next week. But I’m debating on getting a tint strip on the windshield. I had one on my old Tacoma but sometimes it was a pain when you are at a red light and you have to duck-down to see it. Anyone have a windshield tint strip and how do you like it? How far down did you get it? Thanks!

Thats 5% all the way around, except for 50% on the windsheild

For reference.....oh and I'm pretty sure it was the solar guard (sp?) type
