Dealer screwed up my car. but were great about it!

So I took my car into the dealership for an airbag light that I've been putting off getting repaired since april.

I also decided to have them check out why my navi screen would occassionally not go up all the way but stop halfway and go back down. I assumed this was probaly my fault since I installed a TVandNav2Go unit and I might have knicked or bumped something out of place when I was doing the install.

I suppose the best part about having an Infiniti (over another "non-luxury" brand) is the loaner car being free. I've had their '06 G35 sedan for amost a week now.

So they called me today and told me that they installed and fixed the motor on the navi screen. They also apologized profusely for scratching my monitor really bad. (It wasn't scratched before I brought it in)...

The nice service lady told me she'd get it fixed and overnight the part in so it could be hear tomorrow and that they were so incredibly sorry for damaging it. She also mentioned that she wasn't sure if they caused it or if it was already there but they'd fix it anyways.

Now that's unheard of lots of the time for someone to screw something up, be honest about it, and pay to have it fixed. The tech working on the car could've given it back to me and said it was there to begin with (I've had that happen with a huge scratch on my car with a different manufacturer and a different car).

It just reinforced the reason why I take my car to this dealership to have almost all my maintenance work done that I can't manage to do myself.

Thanks Sewell Infiniti of Dallas...

-V-

PS: they have fresh baked cookies and fresh coffee everytime I'm there plus a nice soft drink dispenser. small things really do make the difference.

You are lucky to have a good, honest dealership. The service writer at the dealership I go to initially tried to blame my car's oil consumption on the fact I was changing my own oil.
A few years back, I had an M3 that the service tech dropped a wrench on and put a dent in the front fender and tried to say the car came in with the dent. I had washed it right before taking it in, so I knew the tech did it. I had to fight with the service manager for a week to get them to pay for dent removal.
At least you have someone that is going to treat you and your car right!

I took my coupe in to fix the "streak on the window" problem. And during the couple days it was there, they put a dent in my door; which I noticed and told my service rep. He said to bring it back in when their body work guy was there and they would fix it. Due to conflict of schedules, it would have been a month or so before I got it fixed. He offered to send the guy out to my job and to fix the dent in the parking lot, all free of charge. Now thats service.

That was frontier infiniti in santa clara btw (yes i've heard the horror stories w/ these guys, but I have yet to receive anything but top notch service from them)

I will let you know what I think about my dealer tomorrow. So far I have only had to use them for my regular services and they also had to fix my pinch protection on my windows. It's back there now because another motor went in my driver side window, hopefully its all fixed now.

I did get an '07 G35x loaner with only 550miles on it. I must say it drives much better then I expected and damn I love the AWD! My coupe is still much more fun to drive and gets more looks though lol

Sewell is great in Dallas. I always get my maintenance over there. too bad they don't install parts not bought from them, and they tend to wash my car when i always request no wash.

do they not do a good job of washing the car? I barely even notice that they wash it even though I know they do.

my car is usually so dirty from the drive from Lubbock that anything is an improvement.

A lower mean cost of ownership has a general tendency towards poorer service of dealerships. You get what you pay for and since the majority of cars are lower in cost then the general consensus is that dealers = bad.

I, too, had a good experience. I had brought it in yesterday for my brakes, they did it all under warranty even though I had aftermarket rotors. Plus, they cleaned it VERY well (inside and out).
