27000 miles, 2005 G Coupe 6mt - Flywheel and clutch already broken!?

Omg,

Damn it, maybe this is the reason I should get a used car. You never know how the maniac drives your G before you.

I brought my G like 3 months ago and 2 weeks ago, there is a lag in my acceleration and the dealership said it’s the clutch slipping. They go ahead and order the part, now they call back telling my Flywheel is done too! Both of them not under warranty!

I am surprise by a 30k car are equipped with such not reliable parts. OR the moron who used to own the G had been torturing my G all the while!

The guy say he will try to run it thought the Infiniti see if they can argue this and get the warranty to cover this. Is flywheel under warranty? they told me clucth and flywheel is under warranty for 12000 mile!. Wish me luck!!

Any advise on what is my other option?

I don't believe there is any such 12,000 mi warranty for clutch and flywheel, as these are generally considered to be wear items, like brake pads. Unless you can show a manufactured defect in these parts, I assume you're out of luck.

not gonna happen. that's the risk you take buying a used car. it's a maintenance issue. if oyu bought certified pre-owned then I'd give them a hrad time. good luck.

If none is covered by warranty, you may want to check around for aftermarket parts and alternate repair shop than the dealership. Dealership prices are outrageous.

they are asking for 1200 for a fly wheel, is that outrageous? i am not familiar with price of parts. Is it possible for me to buy the fly wheel and ask them to install it?

Its a dual mass flywheel...Yes, it cost that much...Why don't you just go after market and have the dealer put it in for you...Save you some money right there...

Of course, if you like the OEM stuff, I pulled my '05 6MT clutch and flywheel out for aftermarket stuff, with less than 5900 miles on them. The flywheel looked pretty new still, with the clutch having signs of only some minor wear. The Throw-out (release) bearing, on the other hand, was pretty well worn, so a new one would be a must. Would do 650 shipped (they ARE heavy) for both now that I'm thinking of selling/trading the car.

FWIW, you can get a new OEM flywheel for about $950 or so at some of the online vendors.

Keep in mind one good thing about replace it from the dealership is they cover it under warranty. It will be helpful to figure out what's the price differences, if not much, I would have dealership do it.

The money you saved by going for a used car, it will be used for stuff like that.
