I don't know any companies that rent out manual cars. Only thing I could suggest is go to dealers and test drive manual cars, Acura TL, G35, 3 series BMW, etc.....I know it's cheezy but it will be practice.

WTF? How about you let him ruin your car? Originally Posted by DrrSeuss

i've already driven a stick car so i doubt id ruin any car. ive driven my friend's eclipse and i only stalled once on my first try thanks to the logitech g25 and gtr 2 and then i was fine for the rest of the session but it was only for 30 minutes. i'd just like to get more practice and a feel of how one feels. i'd also like to see if it would get annoying to constantly change gears, but i doubt it. and won't the salesman be in the car while im driving just in case i do test drive one? that'll be embarrassing if i do stall

It's not a bad idea to practice on someone elses POS before you lay down
$40K for a new G.....besides you're paying them to rent their car (POS)!

With regard to the more well known rental car agencies, I believe it is easier to maintain a fleet of cars equipped with AT's. Needless to say, to avoid situations, such as yours, AT's help eliminate any additional liabilities and/or repairs. So, as such, I doubt you will easily find a MT for rent . . . Unless you are willing to rent a large moving type vehicle or a high end sports car.

Here's a reasonable suggestion--go buy a $300-500 beater with a manual, and beat up on it with practice. Then junk it when you're done. You don't ruin anyone else' car, and it practically costs the same as renting for as long as you might've needed to. I rent quite often for business, and have never heard of companies renting manual tranny cars....except maybe high-end exotics that'll cost you $500 a day...
thanks guys for your suggestions. im gonna try to find a beater and buy it for 300-500 bucks.

there are tons of used cars on craigslist. just get one of those to practice on, and once done, sell it ^^

+1 for craigslist!!! i bought a dirty but good running 4spd manual 86 camry for $300
to teach my wife how to drive stick
later detailed it myself & sold the car for $400 when we were done with it
FYI there is a place called Rent-A-Wreck http://www.rentawreck.com/
they rent new cheap cars but depending on the location they also rent old cars or beat-up cars $19 a day sometime they have manual cars (this was yrs ago i dont know if they still do)

I find it pretty funny that these same companies are the exact opposite in Europe. Everytime I go to Europe, I have to rent a stick, because that's all they have, unless you want to rent a high end Mercedes or Audi.Originally Posted by andy2434
