Oil Filter: M1-110 or 108?

I read the FAQ section on changing the oil, and the post said to use a Mobile One M1-110 filter, but when I went to AutoZone, they showed the G35 coupe as taking a M1-108 filter (Mobile One). Anyone know which one is right?

M1-108 is the DIRECT replacement to the factory filter. Some people have gone with the M1-110 because it is slightly larger, thus increasing area for filtration.

You'll get people debating on which one they'll use....it's all personal preference. I installed the 108 but will switch to the 110 at my next oil change in 3500 miles because of its larger size.

both work and both cost the same amount

exactly. it's debatable as to which is better, but it's more of a personal preference. some argue that the larger filter has more surface area to filter. However some argue due to the larger size it causes less flow due to the back flow or something like. Some say the smaller is better becasue that's how they designed it to be.

yeah.. it's just up to you. do whatever you want knowing that it probably doens't really make too much of any difference.

Thanks--that explains it. Will stick with stock size, I think--since I went to Mobile One (5W-30) I thought I'd try out the filters, which are supposed to be superior.

I am using the Mobil 1 syn oil and the M1-110 filter. You can use the 108 too, the 110 is just a smidgeon longer.
