ok who would pull away... a coupe 6 speed or a 2002 s4 no mods completely stock.. 6 speed also.. i have heard that it is close but was wondering if anyone had any first hand experience or was in the know. thanks!

 

You mean the 340hp 302ft-lb torque, 5-valve 4.2L V8, AWD 0-60 in 5.0, 1/4 mi in 13.6 2004 S4?

The 2002 S4 will be very close to the G at the 1/4 trap. The AWD makes for a very good launch, helping it's 60' and 0-60 time, but the G catches up and matches it's average 1/4 mi time.

It's a drivers race for the '02, against the G, but I want to get my hands on the '04. It's like an AWD M3 with a V8!

As much as I love the G35 coupe. And if money wasnt an issue, I would definitely take the S4. Those things have get up!

 

The 2002 S4 six speed would win. It runs a 14.1 in the quarter. The automatic 2002 S4 runs a 14.8. I had the six speed, but traded it in for my 6mt. The audi was faster, and felt a even faster than it actually runs because of the low end torque created by the twin turbos.

 

isn't the only reason because the S4's come turbo'ed?

the S4's totally smoke our cars for breakfast lunch and dinner. my friend has the model before the newest one and OMG that thing is fast. and it can get a looot faster with the simpest mods. before chip, we might be able to smoke em, but once they chip it, they will pull on us. with an exhaust and gutted cats, they will tear us a new one. amazing cars. but they cost an arm and a leg. and reliability isnt so great after a few years.

That comment will **** off a lot of m3 owners. hahah Actually the m3 is still faster straight line. Check out the topgear video M3 vs. S4. Anyone has a site to host I can upload it.

 

how funny! a chick in a S4 smoked me on the highway today... it was not pretty... i couldnt catch up... haha

 

so they make more torque down lown then us? and the new s4 IMO is nothing special... the clutch is way to light and you can't feel when it actually grabs causing a lunge every [censored] if you don't let of the clutch incredibly slow... it will get up and go though... just doesn't feel like a sports car to me.... so is the ruleing... that a tt v6 s4 will beat us? how bout off a role.. do we have a chance?

 

As said above I KNOW it's a drivers race. There is a guy in my neighborhood with a silver 02' or 01' and we always do light to light races screwing around with each other. Of course off the line he has me because he knows how to launch the quattro.

However, usually by 3rd gear I start to pull on him and I can usually pull about a half a car length up to 5th. Of course he has won several times too cuz' I get a bad launch, shift crappy, or the fact that those cars are just fast! I do believe the older S4 has less top end than the G though. But.... Being a big fan of Audi's and having several friends in the So Cal Audi club I know that all it takes is a new chip and that car becomes a BEAST.

I saw one guy in the group at the Local Mod shop do a 4 WHEEL BURN OUT!. That was off the hook. They love it when I bring the G and the rice & kraut comments go back and forth like the challenges for drags. It's a great car and the new one is simply SICK I checked it out at the dealer. A little too pricey though as it is in M3 territory, great cars though. Peace

g35child asks about a 2002 (not the new V8). Thing is four hundred plus pounds heavier and has 30 hp less than a G. Sorry folks, AWD is not that miraculous. Normally not one to post wins, I had an S4 ask me for a go this past summer. Both cars stock. We were rolling, less than 5 mph, when we started. I have an AT. He was in my rear view by the time I hit 3rd. We took it out on the highway, where we did about a half dozen runs from different speeds. Not once was he able to keep up. Our last run, we started at 100 and went from there. I think he kept thinking that at some speed the G would run out of steam. He was mistaken. We then pulled off, shot the [censored] for a bit, and checked out each others rides. While I'm partial to the G, the Audi is a great car, and we can forget going up against the new V8- it rocks. G45 coupe anyone?

Just came from a chipped/catback twinturbo S4. Ran a 13.2 w/ it in optimum conditions. No doubt what car is faster, but the G is much more fun to drive, and i think looks quite a bit better as well.

btw- catch those cars on an 80 degree + day and its about an even race even chipped. Those turbos are such dogs in the summer
