Getting angry...need advice!
Getting angry...need advice!
Hey everyone-
I've spoken with many of you about the 6MT I ordered from Harte Infiniti in CT. I have to say that at this point, I'm a bit beyond frustrated with the dealership. The reason is that originally, when I ordered the car in September, I was told that it would arrive at the end of December. At the end of December I was told it would now arrive on the 16th of January. It's now the 27th, and I am still without my car.
My frustration comes from the dealer's complete lack of knowledge pertaining to the whereabouts of this vehical. If I order a $2.00 candle from a shop across the country and UPS ships it, I know where it is at all times. If I order a $40K car, all I get is "it should be here". One would think that a company should institute some sort of tracking system that would allow dealers to give ACCURATE estimates for delivery. (Infiniti take note!).
At this point, my dealer has expressed a strong interest in having the car out by the end of the month (for some reason). Since however, the car isn't here yet, and CT is supposed to get a huge snow storm this week, I don't see how that's feasible. I've already explained to Harte that I won't drive the car if there is snow on the ground and if they have to keep it...I want it kept indoors. Somehow, I feel as if they think that's an unreasonable request.
I'm seriously considering canceling my order. I really never expected this kind of trouble when I originally placed my order. When I do business, if a promise is made, then I move the earth to keep that promise. If I can't, I continue to move the earth to make the customer happy. Neither of these are being done on my behalf

Re: Getting angry...need advice!
It is impossible for a dealer to no the wearabouts of a vehicle at all times - thet dont track them like UPS. The vehicle leaves Japan on a boat - gets to Los Angeles, put on a train to the East coast, and then on a truck to the dealership - they have no control on the delivery date. When I ordered my car they told me I would have it in December - much to the dealers surprise the car arrived a few weeks early. Dont blame the dealer - with the weather we are having in the tri-state area - a delayed delivery is better at this point - remember that the tires it comes with are 100% totally useless and dangerous in even a dusting of snow. Take another valium and relax...

i wouldn't pick it up in a snow storm. i know you're impatient, but you've waited this long.. a couple of days won't matter.
he wants it out by month end for business purposes. sales figures and interest. if he has it into the new month, he has to pay interest on it. you have good leverage on him for extra free-bees

I live in Pa. my G was shipped to Port Elizabeth NJ. If you have the VIN you can have your dealer call them. I made the call myself. Distribution & Auto Services, Inc.

Does your car show up on your dealer's inbound list. I ordered my car (exactly like yours) in the November and it still doesn't show up on the list. I called yesterday & spoke with the GSM and he acted like they don't know how to get my order number. No VIN, no order #. I'm starting to get worried/pissed!
Re: Getting angry...need advice!
I have had almost the exact same experience with infiniti. Order car is sept. I was told it would arrive the last week in Dec., then the first week in Jan., then the second week in Jan., and now I haven't the slightest clue. What really bothered me was that the after i told my salesman that they needed to get my car or GRubbs could, then the GM of my dealership decided to give me a call and give me a speech about service. WTF. He cant even deliver on the near dozen promises he has already made and now he wants to talk about service. Unreal. I thought Infiniti was supposed to be a premium brand, like BMW or MErcedes. Do they treat their customers like this? WEll i guess i will stop ranting now, as you can tell this gets me a little worked up, LOL.

Hang in there!! I know it seems like an eternity for you...I had to wait 3 months for my car as well....but believe me you are so close at this point to cancel and maybe have to settle on another color/combination isn't really the way to go....besides if your anywhere in the northeast the weather is just terrible...I can not and will not use my car in the slightest amount of snow...I just can't seem to find snows for the car at this point...so if you miss the upcomming storm all the better....believe me the car is definitely worth the wait...LOL 2old4this

Maybe all Sept. orders are somehow delayed. Or it could be that you're from the same region of the country. I also notice that you all ordered the Navigation system. Perhaps it takes longer for Nav equipped G's to arrive because they don't make very many of them?
Anyway, hopefully you get to enjoy the G soon.

Statik,
I feel for you man. I thought since we hadn't heard from you since Friday, that you were busy sniffing the leather inside your garage.
They have had my $1k deposit since Sept 26 and only after harassing them the last few weeks did I get a delivery date for the week of Feb 6. I consider that simply as a milestone. I don't really expect it to be here then. I even told William Carmon (the sales person) that the way the weather is going he might as well hold on to it until April ( Just kidding!!!).
In Connecticut we normally have a very cold January followed by a very snowy February to March. This week's two-punch nor'easter suggests that February is starting early.
I expect if my car arrives in Feb and if I must take delivery in bad weather, then I'll flatbed it to my garage. My wife's Maxima will be booted out of her garage to make room.
Good luck. I can appreciate that the scent of new leather is probably so palpable now you are beside yourself (I'm smellin' it). You can't think, eat, or sleep in anticipation. It is probably totally disrupting your entire routine.
I went through all that when my first delivery date in early December (near my Birthday) was approaching. Since the January date became impossible, I've totally not given it a thought.
Please consider giving them 2 more weeks before succumbing into cardiac arrest!
By the way, I did see your car on the Infiniti.com list last week. Now it is gone! Do they have an explanation as to where it went??
Peace!

Re: Getting angry...need advice!
I guess that my dealer took the car off of the infiniti.com inventory list because so many people have been calling about the vehical!
The bad news is that my dealership CAN'T find my car! It is grossly overdue at this point and now I'm being told that it was probably delivered to another dealership by accident. This is a nightmare.

Re: Getting angry...need advice!
Wow sorry you guys are having all these issues with the dealer and your cars man. I waited two months for my car but it came even earlier than they said it would. The thing is the cars with navi are pretty rare as in my dealer out of 80 cars only 5 had navi. Those cars were the ones that had the long wait times. Also the weather is a major factor. Its an uncontrollable factor in which the dealer cannot control the way the weather is gonna be. Lately its been terrible and thats probably whats been slowing things up even more. Lastly I would say be patient unless u absolutely feel your being screwed because you dont want the car during the winter and when you do get it, it'll be like the greatest thing ever.
Re: Getting angry...need advice!
try and make lemonade out of lemons... say your very "upset" with the whole scenario and have found another G that you have decided to take instead, but you would reconsider if they sweeten the pot....
now thats turnin the tables there buddy.
do it for us and all the other G's out there who had to wait forever to get their ride too !!
were talkin CASH IN HAND MAN!!

Re: Getting angry...need advice!
You know, I'm a little paranoid myself. When a G35Driver member from the Riverside/Orange County, CA area said his car came in and his car had exactily the same spec as my on-order G, I used the zip code for Riverside to locate all of the Infiniti dealerships within 50 miles.
I then methodically went through Infiniti's "Build and Locate" procedure to see if any of the vehicles listed had my VIN (one with identical specs was within 120 units). Then I went through each dealership's inventory. Didn't find any. hahah!
As I've said in the past, I don't trust car salesmen. I made it clear to my salesman that I wouldn't put it past their species to sell my car to someone off the street who was willing to pay more than I negotiated. I also made it clear that if I ever found out something like that and could prove it, they would have public relations nightmare on their hands.
I'm sure the same thoughts have occurred to you also. But, for now, just chalk it up to paranoid delusions.
I believe we will have our cars within 2 weeks of our latest delivery date, .... I hope.
