g35 speedo/tach malfunction

i dont know what happend to my 03 g35, but while i was driving to the gym today, the speedo just dropped down to zero, but the tach worked fine.

when i got out of the gym, everything was back to normal, until after i got out of the gas station. i filled up my car, turned the engine on, and the tach/speedo both stopped working, and my a/c is cutting in and out.

anyone hear of this happening to nissan/inifiniti's before???

It could be the Vehicle Speed Sensor. Your climate control could be used by the VSS to determine when the A/C clutch should be engaged or not. I know my Legend's A/C uses the VSS sensor to determine what to do with the Climate.

speedo gets its info from the VDC/TCS/ABS control unit which get info from all 4 wheel sensors. Tach gets its info from the crankshaft position sensor(POS) via the ECM. With both having problems, I would suspect the unified meter control unit, which is built into the combination meter, which is the entire gauges assy.

i had this problem in my old car.. acura CL..

the alternator was not working at full.. and electricity was cutting out.. eventually my car wouldnt start after i got to my destination.

its funny how the tach and speedo would just shut off.. and my car was an automatic, so the gears wouldnt shift properly either.

anyway..
good luck!
