Hi everyone. I just registered for this site and i'm planning on buying a g35. I'm looking to buy a used G coupe, 2004 6mt to be specific. I want the 04 for the brembo's, then i realized that the 05' 6mt has 298hp rather than 280 on the 04'. Is the extra 18hp worth it? I've read that the brembos are a +. But an 05 would be newer with nicer interior. Also, how much insurance are you guys paying for your G's. I'm about to turn 22 and i'm looking at about $1k for 6months. Thanks in advance.

personally i would try to get the 06's for the projector headlights, but if out of those two, i would say the 18 horsepower would make the big enough difference, depending on whether your a perfomance guy i guess... gl on your purchase!

 

The interior isn't all that differnt. the trims are plastic instead of aluminum, the clock is located at a differnt part of the dash. not that big of a difference. unless you want the navi package. navi is upgraded just a bit. older navi looks like a DOS program. or Nitendo while the new one looks like windows 98, or super nintendo. still basic joystick interface.

the brembos are nice to have if you don't mind cleaning your rims everyday and don't mind the squeeks. (reason why the got rid of it after 04).

and for insurance, you are getting a bargain. I'm paying 1500 for 6month. Is the 18hp worth it. not really man. car is slow no matter what. gas mileage still sucks and of 05+ may have oil consumption issues.

 

I like the projectors on the 06' but an 06 is gonna kick my insurance up a bit more than an 04. I like the brembo's a lot and i don't mind cleaning them. But the extra 18 would also be nice to have too. I guess i'll jsut have to see whats available to me. Thanks for the fast inputs guys!

 

05+ FTW...Nicer interior, more power, and a newer car. Yes there are some inherient problems with the 05+ models but I love my 05!

 

insurance seems to be about right ($1000/6months-full coverage) for a 22 year old with a mild record(maybe)

 

Haha... I'm paying under $400 for 6 months. lol I love being 29.

Anyway, the extra 18hp isn't worth it in my opinion, because you lose 10 ft/lbs tq. Depending on driver, from what I've seen the cars are still pretty evenly matched. I DO wish I had the updated navigation, but the Brembo's make up for it. I get one compliment on my brakes for every 2 compliments on my car. Even if I do have to spray the wheels off every two days. *shrug*

The extra year's warranty and the stock 19's might be worth it, but not the horsepower, and you lose the brembos.

 

the reason why im not getting a 05+ its because of all the horror stories ive been reading about the oil consumptions!
