Decision time soon
Decision time soon
Alright I plan on getting my car either at the end of april or the beginning of may. I pretty much have it narrowed down to two choices. One obviously being the G35 coupe and one being the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. I realize these are two completely different cars and I like them for completely different reasons. Now keep in mind I have been working for 2 years and saving, but i'm still young (21).
G35:
Likes
Styling is amazing
Luxury feel to it
Infiniti backs it (reliability)
6-speed
Will probably last for quite some time
Dislikes
Price...
Could use some more umph in the performance dept
Doesn't look like a kids car
Sucks in the snow (my friend has a sedan and it is terrible in the snow) obviously snow tires would fix that.
EVO:
Likes
Performance!!
AWD
Ridiculous handling (so much fun to drive)
mod-ability (Not really sure if i want to mod the car yet, but the possibility seems intriguing)
I actually do like the looks, but it is no where near as nice as the G
Younger looking car
Dislikes
Reliability...even though some say they are good cars, I don't trust it to make it to 100k (even without modding it)
Style could be nicer (kind of archaic design)
Interior Sucks!
No Six Speed...
Now I have a few questions for you guys if you don't mind answering them for me. I have test driven the EVO (in august) and it was the only car I have test driven. It left a smile on my face that took about a week to wipe off. Has anyone here test driven an EVO? If so why did you pick the G35? Also I beleive that most people say it takes about 3 months to get the car in if you order it. Is there a way to get one for around 33 b4 tax, title, etc with the sunroof and spoiler (aero package?) in jersey? I appriciate all your guys help. I saw a black G coupe with the spoiler outside the gym one night and i fell in love with the looks...

Re: Decision time soon
you can prob get the coupe for about 33500 b4 taxes, which is about 1000 off msrp. Lately I think the dealers are actually willing to deal on this car. Just haggle. Also you would have to wait by ordering, because those options usually include the premium package i think. The evo will be more practical for the area you live in. Northeast weather does suck.
If you order in april or may... you will be able to drive the car in august... and you have about 3 months to drive the car since winter will hit. You might as well get the Evo and drive during the summer and winter.

Re: Decision time soon
When I was car shopping 7 months ago, I also considered the Evo and even the Sti as a choice along with the G35. All three cars had plus and minuses but the deciding factor for me was the fact that I wanted a car that everyone could respect. Sure the Evo is very fast and responds to mods well but would i really want to take that car to a nice restaurant with my girlfriend or friends? Of course there are days when I wish that I had chosen the Evo over the G35Coupe but those days are few. Also, for me...I really can't justify paying over 30g's for a car with a cheap looking interior(purely imo). I guess getting a screen and upgrading the interior would have done it but for a complete package, the G35 coupe was the car for me.
