for infant, go with the graco snug ride.

for toddler, go with britax marathon or roundabout.

I currently use this Graco in my coupe:

No problems fitting it in there.

I have both of these. I wanna trade in for a sedan but then I get in my car and those thoughts go

The graco with the seat protector works well but I'm paranoid so I got a think wood board and use that on top of the protector to even out the distribution of weight on the seats. The seats will have two points where most of the contact occurs and will leave indentations in the seat.

ez, i use a shelf liner to protect the leather surface and to prevent slippage, per advice of police. not sure a wood board is a good idea. never heard of a childseat expert recommend such board. in the event of a crash, would the board stay put?

i think the indentation would eventually come out. if not, so it is.

I actually put the board under the seat protector. I actually use 3 layers...a cloth towel, board, and set protector. However, I can see your point also about slippage. I tested it to see if it was snug in the past and it seemed pretty immovable but you never know with a crash. Thanks for the advice.

EZZ, your setup is interesting and a novel way to protect the seat. i think that the key objective is to protect the littler person riding in the carseat, not the rear seats.

just a suggestion: may want to take it to your local police/firefighter for an inspection to see if your setup passes their test. let me know what they say--if it's alright, i would be interested in your setup. can you post some pics?

We have a Graco and it is great. Also it goes to 30 lbs when most only go to 25. We plan on getting a Recaro for the toddler seat.
