Tranny grind?

Ok so i took my car into the dealer and told them about how my transmission grinds when I turn the car off and they told me it was normal and there is nothing wrong with it. So i told them to check anyways and they replaced my flywheel. It seemd a bit better but now its back again. When I am sitting at a drive though window to order food and I have the car in neutral I can hear the flywheel and pressure plate rattling or touching some what. Took it back to him and he said the same thing that its normal.

What the heck? it sounds so bad this cant be normal it drives me nuts. Its the only sound my car makes that kinda makes me freak out.

Any ideas?

I belive you are referring to the "chatter". Everyone says it is normal on our vehicles. Personally, I only hear it when I start the car or sometimes when I shut if off. I don't hear it everytime either.

i think unless it's excessive, it's normal. try stepping on your clutch when turning your engine off. no chatter.

Mine out tranny used to do that a LOT. Of course, that tranny was fvcked from day one. It only lasted 32k and burnt out the clutch at 7k on the car. Look in to the lemon laws in your state. If you have taken it to them so many times it may qualify.

im in cali I got it at metro infinity but this is excessive. Every time I turn the car off the chatter is LOUD!!!

Its funky that I hear it in neutral as well? Like when im sitting at KFC i can hear the tranny chatter quite a bit.

Also hear a ticking in the motor when its at idle when I rev it up the ticking speeds up a bit until 3k then i cant hear it any longer due to the motor being to loud. Think its the pump that returns excess gas to the tank? Thats what the tech said it was but I did not think it would speed up when I gave it gas. Sounds like my valves need adjusting.

Had the same type of sound on my 95 240sx with the RB swap, we did a quick valve adjustment and it went away.

The chatter is normal. My tech at nissan called the infiniti tech line and asked about it for me, when I complained about it. There respond was it was normal, but it should only be able to be heard when up against a wall or cars etc. If you hear it when driving etc, then something is wrong.

thats my .02

Don't you people find it "funny" that every problem the G has, the guys at this forum says its "normal".. That's their answer to everything wrong with the car.

Problem: Clutch chatter
Answer: It's normal

Problem: Sunroff popping
Answer: It's normal

Problem: Uneven thread wear
Answer: It's normal

Problem: interior popping, clanking
Answer: It's normal

That's more then then 3 "Normal" Problems... SOUNDS LIKE A LEMON TO ME.

Dude every cause has problems. The problems listed above are not that uncommon from almost every other car on the road.

If you think the stock chatter is bad, you'll hate the aftermarket clutch and flywheels

yea, but when raining season arrives, you better get new tires. Rear wheel drive plus bad tire = crash.

Our tires last no more then 12-13k at best. The 350z owners are fighting for a recall on their suspenion because of uneven tire wear.

Hopefully, we will get the same recall.
