K&N Typhoon?

Hey all-

Even tho the G is a week old I'm itchin for upgrades! What does everyone think of the K&N Typhoon? Looks like a good product from what I've read. I'd love some feedback and pictures if anyone has some. My biggest worry about these CAI systems is installation...I'm scared to death to remove my bumper, wheels, etc. If it's easy to install...that's the one for me!

Re: K&N Typhoon?

I have the Injen CAI, so I can't speak about the K&N. But I'm posting to tell you don't worry about taking off the bumber. Install any CAI by removing the lift tire/wheel and simply removing the front half of the inner fender liner. It's really easy and it's all right in front of you.

Here's a pic looking at what you'd see during the install process. Pic points a arrow to show how I did not remove the entire foam block and plastic panel that the Injen directions tell you too.

If you have concerns about the install, why don't you consider the JWT popcharger. I think that of all the CAIs available, this ones shown the most gains in hp and sounds very aggressive.

Re: K&N Typhoon?

K&N also has a Typhoon short ram sys. It's makes more hp
and can be installed in 45min. max. (girl friend and/or wife).
It also offers less potential of water injestion. No fender/wheel
removeal. Cost less also. Sound is very good when you
call for GOOO! My thoughts are mine, there are umpteen
hours of threads on this subject. Read some but don't go
crazy or pay over $200.oo del. for a sys.
Good Luck,
Bob

Re: K&N Typhoon?

If hydrolocking is a concern and you want a cold air intake, go with the NISMO CAI. Shader7 made a great step-by-step online instruction manual on how to put it in...

I have it, it works great, plus it comes with the bypass valve in case of water... most of all, it's mad by Nismo..so i'm also buying "a peace of mind" knowing it's developed for our VQ engines...
