who makes the lambo door kit on that car?

 

Decah makes the kit for the 350Z that you can use on the G35. It takes minor tweaking, like rolling / cutting of the front fenders, drilling on support brackets and plates, and then extending the doors wirring harness, but it will work. The door opens by first pulling it out like you would normally do, and then you simply push up. Getting in sometimes can be tricky for heavier set people as the door being vertical only allows so much room between the doors bottom edge and the entry sill. It's one of those mods that has no practical use, but rather just that "eye candy" factor, which is still cool by me! If I remember correctly, the 350Z kit sells for roughly $1500 and even though considering the amount of work involved, its still a "bolt-on" mod you can always bolt off and go back to stock. What the kit doesnt warrant is the HIGH price! If you saw the kit, you could easily copy and fab one up your self for under $200! The parts are not off the shelf like many people on eBay selling the plans on how to build them say they are, but rather can be purchased and or fabricated by your local machine shop for once again pennies compared to the kit prices they're selling them for.

They can also be found on the www.verticaldoors.com website. Personally I think this is junk and best suited to the kids in Hondas, and really detracts from the class of the G, and moves it into the realm of kids toys.

I would never put them on my car, for a number of reasons. They are comparatively awkward and difficult to use, they add needless complexity and are not durable, they add substantial weight, they do not improve performance and may in fact hinder safety egress, and they cost a lot.

But they do look neat. Sometimes, that is all that matters for the buyer. And if so, enjoy them.
