Catz aqua whites ?
Catz aqua whites ?
I don't want to start another lengthy lighting thread again... I have a question based on afro's recommendation awhile back. Just wondering if anyone has used the H4 Catz aqua whites for Hi/fogs. I know they are the same wattage, etc. Are these any brighter than the standard bulbs, or are they simply closer in color to the HID's? If they are brighter too, that would be great. Color alone is reason to replace the standard bulbs.

I've tried them..... I'll post some pictures tonight. I don't think I like them, so I'm giving up.
I'm going to put an all weather vission bulb, in there. Or something yellow!

Re: Catz aqua whites ?
If you want better lighting for night-time driving, upgrading your fogs isn't going to help. Don't get me wrong, I have gone through like 5 different pairs of fog light bulbs and some are clearly better than stock. But the problem is, fog lights are designed to illuminate only what's immediately in front of you, so based on that, upgrading to better fog light bulbs isn't really going to help you much.
Your best bet is to go with a pair of bulbs that are stock wattage and bulbs that you can't buy in the US. The US has more strict regulations when it comes to bulb brightness. Check out www.powerbulbs.com, they are based in the UK, they sell great bulbs, and shipping is included with the price (takes about a week to get there). Philips Vision Plus bulbs are the best if you just want better fog light bulbs and prefer the stock yellow-ish Halogen color. Philips Blue Vision bulbs are the best if you want better fog light bulbs (although not as great as the Vision Plus bulbs) and HID color.
Personally, I am currently running a pair of Philips Rally bulbs...they are not street legal anywhere in the world (they are for off-road use only) because they are so bright. They light up the road immediately in front of me REALLY well. But they are higher than stock wattage (90W/100W) and therefore I can feel (by touching the glass over the headlights) that they burn much hotter than regular wattage and fog and fog lights just don't illuminate as far down the road as Xenons do. So considering these two factors, I am waiting for my Philips Blue Vision bulbs to arrive in which case I will install them immediately and that will be my final lighting setup, heh.

Re: Catz aqua whites ?
I removed them before taking pictures....I might put them in as a temp and snap some shots.
They are too green/blue & yellow. I don't think they match at all!
I post again in a little bit...w/ some pics....

Just a question regardling lights.. Is it possible to make the clearance lights not turn on? I hate the color, and the low beams themselves would like fine, at night, to me.

The only thing I can think of to do that would be to just remove the bulb. I am thinking of changing mine to amber to match the side markers. That might also look nice against your black paint?

Wrah
they look a lot better than the stock ones IMO
maybe they need to "burn in" like many others on this site
stated after installs of new bulbs....seems a few posted said
that the lights actually brightened up after a short amount of time.
I think i'm going to go for the MTEC's.....I just don't know the durability of these aftermarket type bulbs.... I don't want to have to do this every couple of months....that would be usless to me...It's such a pain in the A$$ going thru the motions just to install...2old4this

Re: Catz aqua whites ?
Installing isn't bad at all. Two bolts, one screw, 3 clips. Turn the wheel all the way in and its easy.
Maybe I'll keep them in....and see what happens?

Re: Catz aqua whites ?
I've posted some pics of my Fair Whites in this forum. Do a search. I think the color matches very well with the HID. The Fair Whites are a bit higher color temp 4400K than the Aqua 4100K. I think they look great! Take a look at my post. 8-)

I got the Fair Whites @ 4400K. I think they match the HID better than the Aqua @ 4100K. Take a look at my post in the Canada forum.

Re: Catz aqua whites ?
How are they in terms of light output? I don't want to decrease my lighting all that much, by adding blue bulbs... Also what kind of bulbs did you use in your clearence strip?
