There were quite a few new owners that removed this thinking it was only for shipping. Mostly the first people to get the car when it came out. I might have done the same if I didn't know any better.

Actually I was told this material is not the same material as used on 3M brand c-bras. The guy who installed my c-bra, Alan Siegelman, has been working with 3M for over 6 years (and professes to be one of the initial 3M installers/instructors. The film on the rear wheel wells has color impregnanted into it (it is not clear) and I was told is tougher to work with. I was also told this film will not fade at the same rate as the paint on your car like 3M is supposed to.
But I could be wrong.

Really?! That's pretty cool. I've got some nice chips in my sideview mirrors.

Russ -
Sorry to hear about the chips on your sideview mirrors. I never thought it would be needed. The last car that I drove for 5 years never sustained any stone chips, so I never really thought much about it.
I live in Orlando, but purchased my Coupe from Grubbs during their January VPP promotion. They included the lock lug nuts, the Clear Bra and the trunk liner at no extra cost. I also noticed the First Aid kit in the back seat and wasn't sure if that came with every car because the Infiniti website shows this as an extra charge. All this with VPP pricing is an incredible value.

There is an area of disturbed air there. While not the same car, I've seen pics of maximas that were sand blasted right before the rear wheel arch.
Youre thinking, well its never dirtier than the rest of the car.. but if you take it off, and drive in a dusty area, you'll be paintless there in about 18 months.
