What do you all think of this... when it's time to change the filter element on my cold air intake, i may get an APEXi filter now...

hmmm, interesting. I personally don't like using filters that require oil. Ever since I had problems with my camaro...it started running terrible after re-oiling my Holley Power Shot(pretty much the same as an K&N, except blue oil and better pleats)....I thought something was wrong with the car....turns out my MAF had some oil on it, causing the computer to make the car run too rich(verifed by autotap). Of course, some of it could have been my fault...maybe I oiled too much.

The biggest complaints about oiled filters comes usually after they are cleaned and re-oiled. Most ppl tend to think that if a little is good, more is better! The MAFs in some cars, especially the Nissans, tend to be very sensitive to oil contamination!
The reason the oils are usually coloured blue or red is so you can see the oil 'creep' across the filter surface after applying a little bit on its surfaces. A little goes quite a long way. Even with new filters, some suggest that you place the filter on a newspaper overnight to drain excess oil before you do the install.

Even better question... does anyone know what size APEXi filter to get and whether it comes with a manrdrel bent pipe? ...or would I need to use the cold air intake tube set up with just an APEXi power filter cone?
questions questions, many questions...
