I saw a 350z track options with the reverse camera hooked up onto the nav. I'm sure it can be done with the G.

Good luck. A reverse camera isn't too hard... but laser-assisted cruice control from the FX? I mean, I love it on my FX, but I've never thought of the "ease of transfer" to my G; most likely 'cause it wouldn't be too easy. We're talking about replacing the steering wheel, etc.

well i was at the dealership the other day and saw the piece that is used for the intellegent cruise package. it was off a qx4 that was wrecked and got a whole new front end. the sensor alone is $1800, but it would be pretty cool to get it though and would be even cooler if it would work. also saw the qx56 while i was there. that thing is aawesome. its about the size of the yukon or tahoe.

good luck adding a backup cam.
The reason it works so easily on the Z is that the Z is very easy to add a nav screen into the stock hole. My alpine screen will automatically mirror and display the backup input when it senses reverse.

If you had a G / nav You'd be *** out. If you had one without the nav - you add a flip up screen and wire the cam directly to that - granted it wont look as slick anymore.

I think the answer is rather obvious why infiniti desnt add more lux stuff to the G - $$$$.

The tech package on the Fx35 is $10K!!
Granted, I balked at that price - but we love our FX so much its a non-issue.
I only wish that infiniti's nav were as good as alpine's (I'm spoiled).

 

If you have a G with Nav, get the Avelectronic tuner and you can add a backup cam pretty easily. No need to install any aftermarket screens, etc., and you can add a DVD player while you're at it.

The main problem with the laser-assisted cruise is that if you look at the layout of the FX, it's actually a lot different that the G's when it comes to cruise control. You've got a pic of your car next to the gagues, three bars that you use to set the distance between you and the car in front of you, an audible beep that alerts you of cars slowing too quickly, etc. The brakes with depress and even STOP the car, and the throttle will open to keep your speed.

I think the logistics of it are nightmarish, but anything can be done with enough $$ and enough time.

Did you look into Rx330 before buying FX, how does it compare?

RX330 is a wonderfully appointed vehicle, but is quite boring to drive. FX has a "tighter" interior, and is MUCH more fun to drive. I did a full write-up on the FX v RX330 a few monts ago before I got it if you want one...

we looked at the rx330 and were expecting to be impresed.

My wife really liked the styling, I liked the power liftgate and the extensive use of wood and nice leathers....then we drove it.

-LOTS of body roll

-REALLY anemic engine that SOUNDS really anemic when you mash it.

Certainly, we didnt get the FX b/c its FAST - but hell it is esp considering the 35 only has 280HP.

The FX grew on us over the weeks. Sure the ride is kinda stiff (hey I drive a Z!) but the car is sooo damn plush. The seats are great - hell, I love getting a ride in the back seat its so plush back there.

So if you really need a cushmobile - get the rx330, if you want a tite ride and a cool teched out machine - get the fx.

Greatest loves of the FX.

-7 speaker bose SOUNDS INCREDIBLE (really)
-Laser cruise ( I call it DUI mode)
-the HUD on the backup cam - lets you know exactly how far you are from things
-great rear seats
-tricklook 20" dubs
-creamy power delivery
-Hey is that a Z coming down the street?

Cons
-nissan nav (I'm spoiled by the 'pine)
-Rear visibilty (okay, get the backup cam)

 

Couldn't have said it better myself-- I felt like the RX was going to go into a full barrel roll every time we took a corner. The FX with sport suspension just crushes the road.
