Looking to buy 03 or 04, please help

Im set on buying a used 03 or 04 mt coupe. These are great cars for the money and I have read almost every review out there on them. I will most likely buy an 03 since they came with the brembos. Just a few questions before I go test driving. Are there model specific problems I should be looking for such as high oil consumption or faulty electronics or anything like that? I know all about buying used cars so I know to take it to a shop to have it looked over but I am very knowledgable when it comes to vechicles and just want to save some time by knowing what to specficaly look for. Second, what kind of factory upgrades are available for this model? Are there package upgrades? Are they worth it? Thanks ahead of time for the help guys.

Yup 04's have the Brembos as well. I have an early 03 model and have not had one problem mechanically in over 2 years. Good luck on the purchase, its a great car.

The 03's had many problems that had to be sorted through......but were fixed over time through warranty work.

Check this site out......plug in the info for the 03 and then the 04.

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...aintsearch.cfm

There were 118 of these types of complaints submitted for the 03. Most of these things were fixed by the time the 04 model came out as seen by the number of complaints dropping to 60. In all fairness, this site lumps the sedans along with the coupes but you get the idea.....Infiniti fixed things for the 04 model. In fact, when I bought my 04.5, I recall that Infiniti was fixing some of these things on the fly on the production line.

Oh....and on the subject of Packages.....in 03 & 04 there were the Premium Package which added auto headlights, Bose radio, crusie control, sunroof, and the fake titanium painted trim inside. Then there was the Aero package....there were 2 of these....one from the factory which had the rear wing, front & rear splash guards, and under the car aerodynamic diffusers for air flow.....the fake one installed at port supposedly had all of these things but you could tell the difference between factory & port installed by the 3rd brake light in the rear window. If the light was not in the window but only on the rear wing, then it was a factory installed aero package. If there was a light in the rear window AND on the wing, then it was the port installed package where they took a regular car and just added the package. I prefer the factory installed one.

Other than that, there was a basic package in 03 that had black trim instead of the titanium, regular radio, no sun roof, and some even had fabric seats instead of leather.
