G35 coupe vs S2000
well, this is a sad post on my behalf...the other nite i was on the parkway with my friend in his 02 S2000. we ran 3 times from a dead stop with the same results. each time, with clean shifting and clean launches it was dead even 1st and 2nd gears, and once we hit 3rd gear, he pulls a car and a half length and i play catch up 4th gear...wats going on here? the only mod he has to his car is an exhaust...i'm starting to get frustrated here...my car has 3500 miles on it, i figure break in is over, so the car should be running at its strongest...man, i really can't wait to drop the ATI in this bad-boy...sorry fellow G owners for not representing this time around =*(.....

Nothing wrong with that, the S2000 is a great car. Light, nimble, and powerful.

The S2000 is more like a crotch rocket fast bike...let's say...the Yamaha R6... except there are 4 wheels on it...
Some cars out there are built specifically to kick a$$...ours is more of a cross between style / functionality / and kick-a$$-ability
...we can put more than 4 bags of grocery's in our trunk without worrying about whether your passenger should straddle the 5th bag of groceries...
i love this car...

Heh it's just a G35. We can admit defeat. So in your honor I declare a KILL!!!! I ran a Boxster 3x. Once from a dead stop and twice from a roll. The advertisements are true!!! Porsches to pass baby! Yes the G35 is faster than a Boxster. Thought maybe only the 350Z would edge it but the G35 does too. In fact by about 2.5 or more car lengths up to 110mph.

Re: G35 coupe vs S2000
Don't fell bad, I personally own both cars right now a 2003 g-coupe and a 2002 S2000 as a weekend topdown sportster. Both are BadA$$ cars. Before buying the S2000, I would of dog it like crazy but after buying it and owning it, I would have to say the S2000 do fell faster because it weight only approx. 2800 LBS. It is truely a sports bike on 4 wheels.
I would have to say that both cars are built for different purpose. The S2000 is an all out extreme sports car, the felling of driving it is an absolute delight because of the "Formula 1" engine sould, it is so intense. I personally can not drive it everyday because it is just too much each and everytime that I get into the car. I just want to rip off 9K RPM's in every gear just to feel and hear that awesome engine sound. The G-coupe on the other hand is a grand GT/ luxury sports coupe that I can live with every day. It has incredible power, luxurious interior, and that amazing exhaust notes. The advantage with the G-coupe is that it has a balance of both performance, luxury and comfort.
Peace and happy motoring.

The result, for stock editions, is as it should be. The weight savings in the S2000 relative to the modest difference in HP puts the G at a disadvantage, and on a twisty road it would be even more evident. The S2000 is a great little car. Emphasis on "little".
With a couple of mods, however, you can have your luxury and whip it as well. With the supercharger, stiffer suspension and limited slip diff, they were absolutely no match on the track at Laguna Seca when we ran up there, at least in the same driver experience class, just ten days ago. But they still are cute as a button and fabulous cars, just a different animal. And a fabulous manual transmission, as smooth as any out there. In the hands of a skilled driver, it is a top notch road car. With some modifications upgrades, it gets even better.

Re: G35 coupe vs S2000
Having owned a 2001 S2000 before, I can say that it is a pure sports car. Below 6k, it feels like a Civic. Once you rip above 6K, it lights up! I love the torque of my new G35C, something I wish the S had, but it was topless and easily tossable in the turns.
I'm still breaking in the G, but this car is a great balance between cruisin' and tossin.
Both are great cars built for different purposes.
