well guys today i replaced the stock filter and man, that thing was dirty. I replaced it with a K&N filter and also cleaned out the air box from all the lose dirt. I also used some lucas injector cleaner with a filled tank. Hopefully i will see some improvement.

Hah. I've gotten up to 390 on a tank and I've never been able to get more than 18.2 gallons in it. I deal with terrible traffic in Tampa most of the time, and am certainly not light on the gas (all stock though).

it was probably just that tank of gas. ive been getting 350 off a full tank except for last week, i got 250. same weekly drive, no extra lead footing, so i just think it was that tank of gas. the current one went 350 and i didnt clean my air filter or do anything different. weird.

your car must have been on fumes by the time you got to the pump

Man I was really worried I was going to run out of gas that day. I forgot my wallet when I went to work, and pulled into the gas station not realizing it. I came up with like 84 cents in change. That was fun paying for. Now I keep a credit card in glove box!

But I do average 300-320 by the time the light comes on, gasing it around town.

How 'bout actually CHECKING your MPG ?

All these posts are just guesses at your MPG.
Record mileage with fill up, drive a couple of hundred miles , fill up, do the math.
Sorry, not trying to sound like a dick but just checking the mileage removes all doubt and each poster would then be able to do actual comparos to others.
BTW, I'm a big believer in Chevron's fuel additive "Techron". Several manufactures reccommend. Bought a M.C. once and guy dumped some Techron in at the Triumph store as I was getting ready to leave. Swears by it for bikes. Pricey but good.

I once got 457 miles out of a tank of gas, and it only took a shade over 18 gallons to fill it up that time. This was during the summer the 2nd year that I had the car and after having put on my Z-Tube, drop-in Air Filter(K&N at the time, although I have since switched to Amsoil EA Nanofiber), and my Motordyne plenum spacer. I haven't been getting economy anywhere near that lately because I drive the car a lot harder now.

South Jersey, probably the winter oxygenated gas (to reduce pollutants) along with the up to 10% ethanol, play havoc on gas mileage.

The only way to know for sure is to fill the tank all the way, reset your trip odometer, drive several days as you normally do, then fill it back up and divide the miles by the number of gallons you put back in.

I usually fill up with around 1/4 tank remaining, and it's almost always right around 220 miles and 11 gallons. As far back as I can remember, since my first fillup to the last one at ~48,000 I've gotten between 19.5 and 20 mpg, 70% city driving and I'm fairly aggressive. So leoverte if you're getting anywhere near 20 mpg I'd say your car is fine.

Couldn't agree more. Miles per tank is meaningless information and I suspect all those numbers being reported are +/- 20-25%.

BTW, my '05 5AT mileage has varied from 21 mpg (all city) to 28 mpg (all cruising) and is usually 23-24 mpg with varied conditions.
